The demand of ‘Madhesh Ek Pradesh’ is the most unpatriotic, unethical, immoral, bias and hypocritical act by any political force in history of Nepal. People from certain regions are neither calling themselves Nepali nor speaking their mother tongues and are enraged by the term Nepal. Most of them have adopted ‘Hindi’ as their official language raising apprehension about their credibility as well as their loyalty to ‘Maithili’ and ‘Bhojpuri’. Their secret meetings with Indian diplomats and official disgust slogans against ‘Pahade’ people have provoked and damaged unimaginable social harmony amongst Nepali people. The accents of ‘Tharus’ and ‘Chure Bhaware’ may sound little sympathetic but they too are standing for ethnicity based autonomy and many more communities are going to follow the suit. These voices of ethnic and racial based autonomy are the biggest and unprecedented threats to the national unity and sovereignty of Nepal. The most fearful question at this time is: Is this the beginning of the end to disintegrate Nepal?
Whether we interpret the modern Nepal as the expansion of Gurkha or the unification of tiny states by Prithivi Narayan, the entity is the same. During the expansion and during the protection of national boundaries, Nepali demonstrated their ferocious bravery. Technologically isolated but culturally enriched Nepal was gradually opened to the western world after the fall of colonisation. Through out the Nepal’s history, Nepali are univocal on nationality, integrity and sovereignty. It is only in the recent past that some stooges have started to play the politics of race, skin, language, and ethnic background. Have they learned these lessons from Sri Lanka, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Rwanda, Kosovo, Albania, or Bhutan? Who is the ideological ‘Guru’ for these cowards? Can they find any history in the world where it has worked? I got a simple retort; if you are not a Nepali, you do not belong to this land.
Prithivi Narayan had quoted 250 years ago as, “Nepal Char Jaat Chattis Barna ko Sajha Phulbari ho”. Nepal was and is home to multi lingual, multi ethnic, multi racial, multi cultural people. The most dominant ethnic groups are: Sherpa, Dolpa People, Larke and Siar People, Manang Bas, Lo Pas of Mustang, Olangchung People, Brahmin, Chhetris, Kirats, Newars, Tamangs, Magars, Gurungs, Thakalis, Brahman and Rajputs, Tharus, Rajbansis, Satars, Musalmans, etc. These people never had any problems in terms of their coexistence and in their nationality. But in the recent past, things have changed radically. Are these voices coming from Nepali people? Unjustified ultimatums, gruesome murders, abductions and forceful displacements of Pahade background people are not simply voices for autonomy. Burning Nepali flags, planned attacks against marginal ethnic groups, waging armed separatist movement, forceful demands for advantageous rights; are simply unpatriotic proceeds. I not only believe that south block’s interest is involved but also significant number of thugs guided by south’s interest have infiltrated in these uprisings. This saga began when Maoists started to teach lessons of ethnic based division and autonomy to spread cheap propaganda and to gain popularity. Ethnicity based federalism should never be declared and it will never work for Nepal.
Nepali people are known to the world by various synonyms such as Gurkhas, Sherpas, Bahadur etc. It all depends where and what industry they are in. But, ultimately they are all Nepali and to this date, all are proud of what they are. With the abolishment of monarchy, parties have also dumped the policies of social harmony, unity, integrity, esteem and sovereignty. The games of division, disrespect, disloyal and dishonour were never seen in Nepali politics before. As a common citizen, every body should have been concerned about the welfare of this country. But instead, few people are demanding autonomy of the whole economic hub of the nation, because they look different from most Nepali. They want to disadvantage other fellow citizens because they do not look like them. And they asking to leave their territory who look different. What kind of democracy and autonomy these people demanding for? All whites are not American and all blacks are not Zimbabwean. Having olive skin doesn’t mean one is Indian and calling themselves madhesi doesn’t mean they are not Nepali. The reality is they are Nepali and they must accept that and they must be loyal to this country and be committed for the wellbeing of this nation as a whole. Do not play the dirty politics of disintegration. South part influenced by India and the north part influenced by China will not make any one victorious, but in fact that will turn Nepal into another Kashmir, a disgusting territorial dispute between two brothers in the name of religion.
After decades of strategic failures in planning, development, and foreign policy, leaders are still tyring to master in puppetry. Every single day, the country is going backwards, however, the leaders are pretending in such a way that they doing something big this time. We see the same faces, which have enjoyed the spending spree of national treasury, going round and round selling different promises. I can not simply believe if these leaders have any spirits at all. I don’t think it is expected in competitive democracy to be in parliament or ministries after failing to gain popular votes. Some bloke is still dreaming of becoming the first president who failed to gain popular votes not just from one but two constituencies. One day a leader is labelled ‘royalist’ or ‘mandale’ and the other day once s/he changes the party, s/he becomes national hero. This all happens only in Nepal. How bizarre?
Leaders are working to develop a ‘khichadi’ democracy. They want to get bits and pieces of democracy from round the world and mix it together to write the innovative constitution in new Nepal. A mixed bag of capitalism, socialism, communism and fascism. A mixed bag of divided, abhorrence, irrational, primitive, pathetic, anarchic society. A mixed bag of ethnic, tribal, religion, lingo based autonomy. A mixed bag of criminals, corrupted, disloyal, deserted, conspirator leaders. And of course, the new party, which marched thro 15000 corpses to establish a communist state but turned capitalist overnight, as a new force to rule the country. And why forget the faction of that same party who abandoned communism but started a disintegration campaign in the name of autonomy. The country is at halt to divide the power. Five leaders in a closed door can decide any thing, anything, about you, me and the nation. I can not whiff any form of democracy in the governance. I have enough scepticism about the CA assembly and its functioning and power. I hope it will not be like former Rastriya Panchayat or current UN Assembly, where most of the members are no more than idle observers. The CA members must wake up now and stop this Madhesi model of federalism and come together for regional and geography based federalism. Time has come to save the nation, not the party.

People like Rajendra mahato, Upendra Yadav, JP Gupta, and Mahanta Thakur are bideshi dalals who are trying to annex Nepal to India. They deserve to be hanged.
It would be a diversion to blame the madehsi people for what is happening in Nepal right now. The seed for this was sown by the terrorists Maoists led by Bhittey restrapati teacher turned terrorist Puspa Kamal Dahal, Givddey five time PM of Nepal with no accountability Girija and always on the brink of being the PM but never the PM or President Madhav Nepal. We cannot, at this juncture blame anyone else but these three culprits along with ceremonial baburam Bhattarai. They are the ones who asked people to revolt, taught them violent ways to revolting and in order to grab power signed agreements after agreements, msot of which weere contradictory to each other. All this time they had kept monarchy in poweer so that the entire nation can engage on how to get rid on Monarchy and life in Nepal sans all the feudalism thatese thugs keep talking about, would be very rosy. What we are seeing after the exit of the Kind in Nepal is in fact the height of feudalism with Pushpa Kamal’s daughter walking into the parliament along with wives and sisters of most of the Maoists “leaders”. UML and NC were traditionally feudal and they have gone from bad to wrose. Now, the countr is in total mess and the seven party thugs have now found the medhsi people to blame for it. These are the thugs wo in public’s eyes resigned from the ministerial posts but are continuing to draw the priviledges of the Minsiters and are shameless enough to appear in public events and go on foreign trips as a minsiter. When are these thugs everr going to be accountable- only when Nepal is completely disintegrated?
Nepal never had a real unifying factor. In the past, we had artificially created the concept of the king being our unifying factor. Everyone had accepted that virtual focus of this diverse country and thus we had remained one. That is also perhaps the reason the old national anthem praised the king. The praise of the king was the praise of our unity. However, then we destroyed that virtual focus which we had accepted for the last two and half centuries, and now we do not have a replacement. In other words, we are yet to discover or agree on what unifies us.
I think that it is most irrational to insist that we stay united without defining why or how that can be done. Nepal government lacks the ability to contain any kind of rebellion.
If Madhesis want a different pradesh then that will happen. It is only a matter of time. If this deadlock is prolonged then it will only escalate the tension between Madhesis and
Pahadis. It has the potential to turn violent also. That will further alienate the Madhesis and bring them closer towards the southern neighbor. At present the Madhesis are not asking to become a separate country, but if they are further provoked by not fulfilling their demands soon then the may do that also. And then the disintegration of Nepal is
certain.
We wanted to abolish monarchy; we wanted New Nepal. Now we have it. It is inside our mouth but it seems like it is bigger and hotter than we had expected so that we are finding it hard to swallow. With the end of monarchy has also ended the old concept of Nepal’s unity: char jaat chattis barna…anekta maa ekta etc. Now, the burden is on the political leaders to find a new concept of Nepal’s unity. It was probably a mistake to get rid of our virtual focus of
unity without finding a real focus (which I don’t think exists) or its replacement.
Alright, let the party with majority rule the country and let them stop disintegrate the country. there is no point now blaming each other.rather working each other then. and another thing it doesnt matter what is char jat chatis barna if these madhesi people can think themselves as a Nepali ( not the Indian- associates) then they should be welcome otherwise get out of Nepal. and if they still stay. send them to the place where they want to be buried. and it is against each country policy to keep people’s who want to disintegrate country so the maoist government can decide their execution.
What the great British Empire could not do with all its might, our southern neighbour is doing without even using force. Hark, the British, if only they’d known defeating the Nepalese would have been this easy.
Gyaneji, the British knew that there was no need to defeat a country of chowkidars. They took pity and started hiring them.
This is a very serious issue. The author has tried to raise most important issue at this time. No one can rule out civil war if sensible moves are not made sooner than later

First of all, DOn’t discriminate between ppl and race . Except that even madhesis are nepali and even they are proud to be nepali but its a fact that they are taking out their frustrtaion so prolonged biased sysem of governing. If they are fighting for equal proportion in all field like every other nepali has the right to do so.
Just a simple example : 800 people belonging to Madhesis in 1,00,000 huge strong army shows how biased was the country towards them.
Some people blame people like Rajendra Mahato, Thakur , Yadav for all these. What if even they follow path of maoist other underground groups of existing in our country ..Will that solve the problem. They went for a democratic process by electing themselves from the people and there they are. Try and not give their rights they will someday fight for different nation someday then you would be most happy creature in this world.
About “ONE MADHESH ONE PRADESH” ….everyday these leaders comment that they are not fighting fro one madhesh one pradesh demand anymore.. all they want is a province which belongs to ppl of their community. Even gorkhaland movement in Inida is about that.

Perhaps to unite all Nepalis is to begin to change the language of how we refer to each other – instead of calling someone a Tamang or a Newari or a Madhesi, call them a Nepali of Tamang descent or Nepali of Newari descent or Nepali of Madhesi descent. Until Nepali peoples all recognize Nepali first, and second have a personal culturally rich heritage, will Nepal unite.
How sad the bickering over name calling when the real problems of infrastructure, food, and education remain on the backburners of the politicos plates while they take more thousands of Rs from the CA without doing anything but fighting among themselves. Nepalis voted in to improve lives for all the peoples of Nepal not just the new CA people with their new salaries.

If Nepali Congress has to loose grip from the power, the aforesaid people will be provoked by the power monster NC leaders to turn the tarai into MADESHTAN, nepali version of Pakistan.

I think whole problem is federation. If we make Nepal Federal Republic, we will see more of similar problem. We need to find solution other way out. After going through all the comments posted in here ….. all i can figure is……there are some 200+ Madhesi CA Members in Assembly, they cover around half the nation in area and population, they are in leading figure in some fields of our country at least and still the basic thing is ::: You are still put up with a question mark on your NATIONALITY….is he a nepali or not….my god he doesn’t even speak nepali …..he is not proud to be a nepali???.lol!!! an individual can’t be proud of his nationality if he is put up with a question mark at every juncture and every at every end of a debate!!! People will reveal history and geography to prove that they are not nepali … We are leading nowhere like this i guess…..At last, its a fact that One Madhesh One Pradesh is not a right demand, but soon there will be a province for madhesi community and for others too!!! After going through all the comments posted in here ….. all i can figure is……there are some 200+ Madhesi CA Members in Assembly, they cover around half the nation in area and population, they are in leading figure in some fields of our country at least and still the basic thing is ::: You are still put up with a question mark on your NATIONALITY….is he a nepali or not….my god he doesn’t even speak nepali …..he is not proud to be a nepali???.lol!!! an individual can’t be proud of his nationality if he is put up with a question mark at every juncture and every at every end of a debate!!! People will reveal history and geography to prove that they are not nepali … We are leading nowhere like this i guess…..At last, its a fact that One Madhesh One Pradesh is not a right demand, but soon there will be a province for madhesi community and for others too!!! So let the politics go on…..and we will have many more thing to discuss!!!
The main region to make autonomus region is self respect, no one pahade community even think of madheshi as nepali nationality, since birth I have heard that madise, dhoti, bhaiya.

There are many other several reasons, what madhesh is getting from pahad?? i think nothing and if there is something that is hate.
The pahade rules on nepal more than 250 years, including madhesh and pahad now we just want to rule as we like to rule madhesh, what is the problem there, why you dont want us to develop and self dependent. Because you are scared and you have nothing there in pahad.
