Happy Birthday Peace Agreement! May You Live Forever :)

Welcome to the Second Year Romance while we remember that rejuvenating day last year.

THE WAR IS OVER, NEPAL DECLARES!

Less than a minute ago, amidst a grand and historic ceremony, Nepali leaders agreed to end the war that killed more than 13 thousand people in the last 10 years. Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and CPN Maoist Chairman Prachanda put their respective signatures in the Comprehensive Peace Agreement that formally ended the bloodshed in Nepal. The signature ceremony is being telecast live and it has been reported that people have started celebrating the historic achievement.

It is a very big achievement. But let us see the implement from both sides particularly from Maoists. Let us wait and see.

So many times, especially when it comes to wars, what is said and what is done are often two very different things. I agree with Prof., let us wait and see… yet I am very excited for you and all the other Nepalis that have been effected for all of these years. I will be crossing my fingers for the future of Nepal.

Nepal Celebrates End of Maoist Insurgency

Today is the day of celebrations! The government of Nepal declared today public holiday and the Home Minister requested all citizens to do dipawali in their homes. All government offices are reported to be doing dipawali this evening. People on the street are in jubilant mood.

More efforts needed to attain durable peace

The signing of the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA) with Maoists promising to come to the peaceful politics had paved the way for the drafting of the interim constitution and culminated in former rebels joining the government in April, 2007 (only to leave it after a few months). The CPA was signed with both sides agreeing to abide by the letter and spirit of the 12-point agreement, the peace code of conduct and promising to establish competitive multi-party democratic system of governance while respecting civil liberty, human rights, full press freedom. During the time they had also vowed to build a “New Nepal” after restructuring the state. Above all they promised Constituent Assembly election to write a new constitution.

However, a year down the line, experts have criticised both the government and the Maoists for not working as per the letter and spirit of the CPA signed a year ago this day. (continue reading it here in Nepalnews)

May you live forever? WTF WTF? This is the worst day in the history of Nepal!!!! Sgining the peace agreement with the Maoists was the single biggest political mistake. And it only happened because the SPA had no one else to turn to for help after Gyanendra took over. It was an act of desperation. The SPA weren’t able to mobalize mass support and the Maoists weren’t getting anywhere. So they came togeather and sgined this agreement out of their own selfish agendas. And look where Nepal is today because of the “peace” agreement. Fcuking UWB, go and tell Birendra Shah’s family how good this peace agreement was and come back here and report what they think.

if this continues to call what has happened in the last one year as a peace process and wishes for it to live foreverr, the god save Nepal. What is in display is utter anarchy and mobocracy– the laws of the jungles are applied in Nepal these days– and terrorists led by TTT are the only ones who feel peaceful while they continue to terrorise the rest of the country. And the peace process has brought this country to the brink of being declared People’s Communist Republic of Fragmented Nepal. And this blog wishes for this peace process to last forever. God save this blog in a communist state.

Happy 1st Anniversary of peace agreement. “Rat rahyo agrakh palayo” need to understand the meaning of this Nepali proverb by Maoists and other parties. No one seems serious to bring peace for forever.

    Yes, Budhai yes,

Had your father and mother been brutally murdered by the Maoists, had your loved ones been mercilessly raped and killed by the Royal Nepal Army, then only you would have realized the importance of the peace agreement. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, haina ta?

    Saala bahun, durbar ko pujari,

Just go to our village and see the life has changed because of this agreement. We were suffering so much, our house was the playground of the Maoists. One evening they would come and forcefully eat everything that we had prepared for our family. The next day, the Army gundass used to come and kick out my father’s chest and scold us for feeding the terrorists.

Timi saala po bhatuwa bhayera arka ko ghar ma basera khayeka chhau, yudda ko kunai parwaha chaina. But we have suffered and we don’t want war. We want peace.

The peace agreement…my foot…234 innocent people killed and 10,000 injured during one year of peace agreement….more than Rs. 5 billion of national money wasted in the name of CA election and in the name of peace process…but people got nothing more than frustration, insecurity and poverty…ethnic crisis has been groomed up during this period and national security and sovereignity are in very critical position…

The abducting, toroturing and killings are being normal phenomena of today in this nation…this unelected govt. neither can bring peace nor the election and good governance….the current political scenario shows that their rule will be end only after dividing the nation or eliminating it..

what else more than this worst we are waiting to see with this syndicate, visionless misruler, suppressing gang of three.. hope new democratic forces will take over this nation…

ABC, thanks for speaking my mind.

Those who want war or enjoy the war time situation, they are warlords. Since you yudda sardars have happily condemned the peace agreement and dropped your vicious saliva for the war, why not I, the sufferer of the war and supporter of the peace agreement, curse you with the following:

If the war starts again in Nepal, may the Maoists kill your family members and the army soldiers rape your near and dear ones.

ABC and Bisan im really sorry that the maoist killed your father and mother and RNA raped your loved ones.

both your attitudes of lets forgive everyone (RNA and maoist) and also let them run our life forever is amazing though. im sure you got justice of the wrongs commited by the PLA and RNA in the peace deal. im also positive that you voted in yesterdays CA election and as for you tomorrow nepal will be declared republic.

wake up and smell the blood sathi, dont let yours loved one and families sacrifice go in vain.

Who said peace concept was wrong ? But, it is not successful.

Yesterday it was NA, PLA and but today there are YCL, Goit, Jwala, Cobra etc. etc..Yes there is some differences in Pahadi area before and after peace agreement , but in madhes, it is more worst than yesterday. Pahadia people are threatened to leave the places and cannot stay in terai where these filthy leaders are busy in securing their power. if you have any pahadia families in terai then ask them how unsecure they feel and their sufferings. The case of Kathmandu, Lahan, Nepalganj, Gaur, Kapilvastu and other killings clearly potrays the picture of today’s peace.

“Just go to our village and see the life has changed because of this agreement”

I don’t know which village this clown comes from but I can tell you for a fact that the Maoists continue to exhort money, abduct villagers and intimidate people and
minors are still coerced into joining the PLA. Hmm… did you guys just forget Birendra Shah or the other hundreds of NC, UML activists that have been assaulted by the Maoists? The peace agreement was a temporary and superficial solution which has proven so much more damaging to Nepal in the long term.
Wait till we hit a fiscal collapse, the country defaults on another payment to the IOC and the law and order situation in Terai continues to spiral out of control. When we have a country whose streets are run by the YCL cadres and policies are formulated by Puspa Dahal then you two bum chums and hold hands and sing John Lehnon songs.
If there were more people like you, Mr. Bisan, then slavery, Nazism, fascism would continue to exist in this world today!
