Gyanendra, sidelined by people, is planning to organize a lavish party and a procession to mark his birthday that the nation celebrates no more in the next few days (23rd of Ashad) in Soaltee Hotel and in Narayanhitti Palace. No EPA leaders and any sensible person should attend that cursed party and procession.
By Prakash Bom
It would be utter humiliation of EPA leaderships if they even think to attend this diamond jubilee of a king who had freshly attempted to murder the democracy to become an absolute monarchy against the aspiration of people of Nepal. It would be disgraceful if an individual of the organization such as civil society’s or human rights’ or journalists’ or lawyers’ or teachers’ or workers’ or students’ who played active rule in people’s movement II participate in this jubilee that is nothing but the part of the grand design gimmicks. The gimmicks are intended to down play the democratic achievements of people’s movement II. Those political leaderships and professionals who will attend this jubilee their intellectual and political integrity for democracy will be shattered.
We have to understand a monarchy is an institution not an individual. But the feudal monarchy of Nepal has deliberately exercised the personality cult as easy gimmicks to subdue the people of Nepal. Monarchy’s practice of personality cult began most dominantly since the autocratic Panchayat regime. The oligarchic rule of Ranas did not make any fuss about the king’s birthday jubilees. Rather kings were confined in the palace. On the contrary, the palace was inspired by the communist dictatorship era to exercise personality cult to induce the people of Nepal with the politics of fear of the almighty king. As a matter of fact, people were frightened to death to speak against the king until just before the people’s movement I (1990). As a result, people’s movement II has been successful to transcend people of Nepal from this personality-cult-fear of the almighty king.
At this juncture where we have reach the pick with the mandate of people’s movement II to terminate the personality cult from our political culture, we can no more afford to get excited with this jubilee. Any personal trill to attempt this party will be disaster of the individual integrity of a person who is committed to the democracy that needs arduous journey to accomplish for creating a new democratic Nepal.
As a matter of fact, people were frightened to death to speak against the king until just before the people’s movement I (1990). As a result, people’s movement II has been successful to transcend people of Nepal from this personality-cult-fear of the almighty king.
Let those who are in the black list of the CA elections indulge the jubilee. Let those who are corrupt pamper the king. Let those who are hostile to the people of Nepal mollycoddle the king. Let those who despise the democracy treat the king with the gifts of antagonism. Let those who fear Republic bestow lavish care on the king. But the rest of us who have faith in creating a new democratic Nepal with Republic setups and federal structures of governance must refrain from this gimmick. Rather we should at this moment be in retrospect giving our condolence to the martyrs whose lives were callously trashed with this king’s atrocities committed during people’s movement II.
We have to be able to remember that it is the diamond jubilee of a king who justified his attempt to murder the democracy. It has been always a painful insult to people of Nepal on the face of the earth to have an extravagant rather wasteful king in our nation of one of the poorest countries of the world. This fact has been deliberately ignored by the ruling elites of Nepal from the government high-ranking positions to the diplomats. We know how poorly crude is our self-interest. It is shame how quickly we give in to the temptation of power and position. But this is the time for us to stand firm with our commitments to democracy and guard our individual integrity not getting swept by the temptation of diamond jubilee.
Political leadership, headships of civil society, advocates of democracy and human rights, professionals, and media leaderships have greater responsibility before them to create a new democratic Nepal that is republic and that has federal structures for people to participate in nation building process than get mesmerized by this diamond jubilee. The principle of political reconciliation applies to all except for those who had deliberately took part in the kings maneuver to suppress people’s movement II with ruthless atrocities. Those individuals that are listed in the report of the Rayamajhi commission must have been brought to justice by now. Had the interim government made such attempts, would palace throw diamond jubilee party? It is a thing to think over carefully that we might be sliding down to the hill with the status quo of feudal oligarchic establishments. We might be reconciling with the forbidden fruit that will for sure kill the people’s aspiration for democracy that is aspired by Republic setups and the Federal governance structures.
Let those who are in the black list of the CA elections indulge the jubilee. Let those who are corrupt pamper the king. …. Rest of us who have faith in creating a new democratic Nepal with Republic setups and federal structures of governance must refrain from this gimmick.
This is an appeal to all advocates of democracy and human rights, to all professionals and ruling elites who believe in electoral (competitive) democracy, to all socialists who honestly fight for the equal rights of people, and to all federalists who advocate people participation in nation building process, to refrain from this diamond jubilee for sake of our nation. We all know the monarchy has been a wasteful institution since last five decades particularly. It has rampantly inflated its expenditures with no consideration of the conditions of people who have been living under the poverty. Unless we want to continue with the same inconsiderate state of minds as responsible figures of the nation for the same extravagant indulgence then this appeal is inappropriate to the Excellencies of Nepal.

Who are these “rest of us” in current politics after you have ruled out black listed people, currupt, hostile to the people of Nepal, those who despise democracy, and those who fear republic. That pretty much covers everybody that is in power today, doesn’t it?
Atom Bom strikes yet again!!!!! But goes off in a whimper because more people seem to be attending the Gala Birthday Bash (in SPAM warlords) than the number that took part in Mob and Goon movement.
*Much insulted Prakash Bom (aka Atom Bom)
in SPAM warlords words*
Everybody should be allowed to celebrate their birthdays. In case of the King Gyanendra, don’t we want to know who will attend the party?
Yes Mr. Bom. In your new DEMOCRATIC Nepal, where everyone will be equal, only people approved by the SPAM will be allowed to celebrate their birthdays, not so?
NOT AT THE COST OF TAX PAYERS MONEY AND AT SUFFERING OF PEOPLE OF NEPAL.
HAVE PARTY WITH YOUR OWN MONEY NO ONE SHOULD BOTHER YOU.
YOU WANT TO HAVE A PARTY AT SOMEONE ELSE’S MONEY THEN YOU SHOULD BE ACCOUNTABLE TO PAY ALL BACK OR GET FIRED.
I HOPE YOU ROYALISTS INTRUDERS OF THE BLOG HAVE GOT NO REASONABLE ARGUMENT AGAINST MR. BOM
REST OF US MEANS ARE MEMBERS OF “organization such as civil society’s or human rights’ or journalists’ or lawyers’ or teachers’ or workers’ or students’ who played active rule in people’s movement II” AS MR. BOM POINTED OUT PERSICELY.
YOU ROYALISTS ON BLOG CHUSH THE GULLAS AND CHAKHS OF GYANE AND PARACHE AND KISS THE RATANA’S DRIED YONI. GOT IT.
Mr. Prakash Bom – this is the kind of article that makes me sick to the stomach. An intelligent person like you should steer clear of it.
Gyanendra is irrelevant and on the verge of extinct. Right now the people of Nepal should be training their guns or remaining scums like Girija, eight party, etc. Your deliberate attempt to divert attention on an weak king is at best seen as diverting attention from bigger culprits of this country. And yea – if more people like you continue writing stuffs like this, I might actually feel sorry for the king and might even vote to keep him.
Damn … why does everything seem to me like one big bahunist design.
it seems that the so called “loktantra” is in fact a step back from being a country where everyone’s rights are upheld. if HM who has been celebrating his birthday for ages wants to have a party, i don’t think, it is unconstitutional nor it will it ever be. the only country where they don’t let people enjoy in this manner, must be north korea i guess.
i just read that, the undemocratic students of the SPAM are going to pressurize their masters on not letting the palace organize the party. they are going to organize rallies, which always have end up in vandalism of public property. Kathmandu now itself is really polluted, and these people will help increase the already bad pollution level by burning tires and so on.
there is another news, where the so called, “civil society activist”, are demanding the government to pull the army from the royal palace, as well as allocate no budget over there at all. the 2 things that can happen if these people get it their way is, the workers in the palace under the palace secretariat get fired or something, and the palace be left up protected so that the YCL thugs get in the palace and start vandalizing. they have openly started unconstitutionally occupying other’s property.
this self proclaimed democratic leaders and their super undemocratic followers demand all but democratic ways to dominate their political rivals.
IF YOU ASK ME, THIS IS NOTHING BUT A SPAM, BY THE SPA-M FOR THE SPA-M.
Yes, stop beating the dead horse.
Other day Prachanda said he wants to be the President of Nepal. He is certain that his party will gain majority in the upcoming election with help of YCA. Henceforth, presidency will go to him.
What we need to do is set up the process by which presidency (or Primeminister) will be elected directly by the people not by the party for one term of 6 years. Until this process is decided upon CA election should not be held.
People like Wagle and Bom present the extreme side of terrorism…and we must always be vigilant against these criminals.
This clown Prakash Bom is some reject wanna be intellectual. It would be best if this moron were was just ignored so he can continue to sit at his starbucks and come up with more useless, irrelevent sh*t.
Bhudai:
But you have to admit, this stuff is hilarious and entertaining to no end. Just read through the nonsensical responses Bum’s piece has invited.
I mean come on, what the hell does this paragraph (sentence, prose, theory, disseration) mean?
“Unless we want to continue with the same inconsiderate state of minds as responsible figures of the nation for the same extravagant indulgence then this appeal is inappropriate to the Excellencies of Nepal.”
hahahaha. You have to admit this stuff is highly entertaining.
All Bum had to say is that he opposes the birthday celebration and that his opinion is that responsible people should avoid it. Simple. Instead, Bum goes on and on and on… reads like a populist speech in Ratna Park, only the Bum’s audience is in the Ratna Park on the internet. 🙂
Oh! Should we then celebrate Mr. Bom’s birthday???? His Majesty is the symbol of national unity. This was deliberately wiped out in the last 1 year and that is why there is growing tension among so-many ethnic groups, between Hindus and Muslims and the possibility of Nepal breaking into 24 pieces just like before Prithvi Narayan Shah the Great. Every sane Nepali that has love for his/her country must go to the palace and celebrate the birthday. Not for the sake of the King but for their own survival and their nation’s survival as a single integral country. Prakash Bom doesn’t realize what is going on in the country today. In the name of Loktantra, the terai has become a killing field, the law and order of Kathmandu is virtually non-existent, moreover there is no petrol, no diesel and no gas. We have a right to celebrate the King’s birthday just like some people worship Marx and Mao.
I think SPAMmer baje (21:27:40) meant, “only the Bum’s audience is in the Ratna Park NOT***** on the internet. “
“REST OF US MEANS ARE MEMBERS OF “organization such as civil society’s or human rights’ or journalists’ or lawyers’ or teachers’ or workers’ or students’ who played active rule in people’s movement II” AS MR. BOM POINTED OUT PERSICELY.”
Man aint that funny!!!!
He pays taxes, he is a citizen king. he can do what he feels like
Gyane is so irrelevant that no foreign dignitaries went to his birthday party.
I think it really is time we kicked him out and went on to other things.
Looking at the volley of comments on Bom’s article, one thing can be certainly said about Nepalses in general “We suck big time and we oppose anything and everything. We are just unable to accept the fact that someone else can write better than us. We tend to believe that we know everything and a fellow Nepali can not be as good as “my self”. Most of these idiots must have gone to some third grade univ. and believe that their intellect is not appreciated by their peers. In psychological term, they suffer from “Poor self steem” Time to boost it dudes, lest rest of your life will be doomed.
Just because some guys in this discussion say that Gyaney is irrelevant does not make it so. If you spent time discussing him then he better be of some value otherwise you guys’ comments are useless.
Should we then celebrate Mr. Bom’s birthday?
Should we then celebrate Mr. Girija’s birthday?
Should we then celebrate eight student party leaders birthday?
If Gyanendra wants to celebrate his birthday then let him do it.
Who the shit are you all (Mr. Bom, Mr. Girija, Mr. eight party student leaders) to tell not to celebrate a birthday?
THIS COUNTRY CALLED NEPAL IS GOING CRAZY WITH ITS LEADERS!!!
Tired old crap.
Hey Bum, go celebrate the Dhoti ambassador’s birthday if you want. Stop bitching about the King.
Grow up your brains and no the fact that no one even invited the Ambassadors. So stop being whorish.
Anjan said it right.
The champions of Loktrantra (see the Indianization of word Democracy) see themselves as cut above the rest. The way they regurgitate their tunnel vision is astounding. Bom for all this years as a second citizen in foreign land is hell bent on making us, proud first citizen of Nepal, a second class by the virtue of his lopsided and hackneyed version of democracy with tilt on the left is way off mark and is down right victim of his own megalomania. We know better.
King has right to celebrate his birthday- Gang of 8 – a clueless bunch can hue and cry but the fact of the matter is for us, more than 60% of the population, still have faith in institution of Monarchy and see it as symbol of sovereign and free citizen. gang of 8 for all their chest beating is guided, massaged and dictated by foreign powers, it is quite evident.
In case of foreign diplomats not attending the celebration, I see it as a good sign. It plainly shows their biases and intrusive nature on a sovereign nation. kingship is by Nepali, for Nepali and from Nepali. No wonder Great King Prithivi Narayan Shah made Padres exit from Nepal during the time of unification and now the same thing is repeating itself- keep off our national affairs or ship out. Can gang of 8 say this- their very existence depends on S.D. Muni, Mukerjees band of foreigners who are here for their pounds of flesh. It does not matter where it comes from.
look the writer is right in one thing the royal intitution is preparing a show of force. the march could be of only a dozen people or maybe will make everyone think again about the royal institution. personally i believe will be a small crowd, not because they hate the king but because they are afraid of the maoist. ironic. looks like no matter who is in what position fear seems to always dominate the life of nepali.

Anywway you look at it even with the politicians having their stage and routing for a republic including their mouthpieces like this Bom, there is still clearly 50% support for the monarchy (even with everything in the states power to make the nation anti monarch). I’m afraid Bom is just shooting again from his hip like his masters the maoists.
As for Gyane being irrelevant, well if he was so, why make a huge show of announcing not attending the birthday function on national TV by the ambassadors – just don’t go why announce it?
the maoists used to call everyone else a reactionary– here is a piece of news for them:
ANNISU-R affiliated to the CPN/M is scheduled to take out Torch Rally from Juddha Salik located in New Road at 1900 hrs today, 6 July 2007 protesting against the King’s Birthday which is scheduled for tomorrow 7 July 2007 and to pressurise the government not to allocate budget for the palace.
That is is what I call a reactionary!!
Bom, What do you mean by the achievements of the peoples movement? Do these ten amongst many more figure in your list –
1. Making monarchy powerless
2. Total absence of law and order
3. Ethnic devision and violence
4. Handing the candy to terrorists and paying them to eat it
5. The threat of divison of Nepal
6. fuel crisis
7. Economic fall
8. Absolute foreign interference and dominance
9. Clueless government with nill plans for what should happen after elections
10. Bahuns dominating evry party, every government position, everything more and more (recent example – the delegation who went to Switzerland including Prachanda to explore federal governance happened to be made up of a group of brahmins only – no madhesi, no janjati, no newar, hell not even a chettri).
Achievements of janandolan 2 – my fat arse!
This is a pointless article written by a republican. We have gone past all this BS. It has been decided that the CA will decide on the issue so till then Gyanendra is still King and if he wants to celebrate his birthday who cares? If you want to attend, attend if not don’t? What has that got to do with democracy? It’s like saying don’t attend any communists birthday as they are also undemocratic. What’s the fuss? Please remove this article and post something worthwhile.
looks like the internet is the only place left for the blind followers of this asynchronous institute of monarchy to shamelessly cry their hearts out.
what amazes me the most is the multitude of preposterous comments by people completely out of touch with the rest of the country when somebody just writes asking people not to attend KG’s birthday celebrations. I can only imagine what they would do when the celebrations would be a complete flop. They’d come back here again and post a deluge of comments ridiculing anything not belonging to their satanic species.
I feel sorry for all these fu*cktards. Guys, its only natural for unnecessary things to be
wiped off the face of this earth with time.
Republican, I respect your thoughts. But please don’t make this out to be a competition, because it’s truly not.
As long as Gyanendra doesn’t use any tax money for his birthday celebrations, who gives a damn?
You need to respect others’ views and be tolerant just like others’ need to respect your republican desires and also be tolerant.
On a different note… does anyone have information on this:
http://nepaliperspectives.blogspot.com/2007/07/unmin-in-over-its-head-in-nepal-arms.html
Is there any truth to what is written at the above URL? I haven’t heard anything in the media of lately….
UWB, how about some analysis on where we are with arms verification on your blog? It’s worth getting some opinions on this. What do you say?
Palace’s Attitude to what happened in county seems indifference to all recent historic changes that the world has witnessed just as most of the commentators in this blog toward this writer.
The news is that even CA elections successfully outs the king he and his entire family will not accept it. This means a VIOLENT movement will need for people to abolish the monarchy physically getting into the Narayanhiti palace.
Consider this article on today’s Telegraph Nepal Weekly.
Some violent scenario is due to occur this week-end:

NEPAL: TO BE OR NOT TO BE!
N.P.Upadhyaya
Nepal’s political situation has suddenly become shaky. Warning signs are that if the politics that is already in a topsy-turvy mood might pave the way for an unwanted and unwarranted civil war of sorts, if not “handled with care” by the ruling elites.
PM Koirala’s repeated suggestion to the monarch to step down or else face consequences is the topic of our discussion today. Whether the King abides by Koirala pleas or moves his own way ignoring Koirala’s dictates will have to be watched? The King too has little option left for him. Certainly he is in a tight-spot. To be or not to be?
The “humiliating and insulting” manner with which Prime Minister Koirala yesterday inside the parliament almost “instructed” the King to step down perhaps contains the seeds of yet another conflict in the days ahead. Here again, if wisdom does not prevail among the political actors “concerned”, the country might be close to a sheer drop -the return from where appears remote if not impossible.
To come to the point, let’s recall for the sake of convenience that it was Koirala who beamingly declared last year June 14, 2006-to be precise-that the King too should be provided some space in the country’s politics. In saying so Koirala meant that the sudden removal of the institution of the monarchy might bring about social disorders instantly.
On June 16, 2006, Prachanda commenting on Koirala’s remarks made in Biratnagar said that if it is Koirala line, we will have our own line.
Later, it was Koirala who promulgated the grand theory of a “ceremonial King” for which he was taken to task by his compatriots in the political paraphernalia.
This is not all; Koirala only recently enunciated yet another theory which suggested that a “baby” King would be suitable for this country. This hypothesis was instantly dismissed by the Maoists and the other major political stakeholders citing different reasons suiting to their political considerations.
To sum up, what is clear is that it is Koirala and Koirala alone who has been talking or say even “championing” the cause for the continuation of the institution in whatever forms it could be.
Concurrently, let’s admit the fact, he is the lone political personality who has been chasing the King either he is in Biratnagar, Delhi or Kathmandu and making insulting remarks against the monarch.
The fresh suggestion he made to the King to step down comes close on the heels of the impending Birth Day celebrations of the King beginning this Saturday.
The fact is that the Royal Palace this time as usual has sent invitations to hundreds of Kathmandu luminaries to attend the B’day bash inside the Palace.
The invitation card is unusual in the sense that the wordings used in the said invitation does hint that the Palace does not care what has happened in the recent months to its prestige and popularity outside the ramparts of the Palace. The same old style and the grandeur that is there as if nothing has happened! This is some what very mysterious indeed.
Now coming to Girija’s explosion, well, how can we predict his inner intent? But then his fresh eruption against the King does lead us to conclude that “some thing” unusual must have happened in the mean time and that is why Koirala exploded against the King. But what? This remains a mystery.
Nevertheless, those who know Koirala from close quarters say that Koirala is just “luring” the people for his political benefits. Other section even claim that it is definitely a Koirala ploy to keep the institution intact. Blowing Hot and Cold phenomenon! But is it that or some thing more?
The Palace, as usual, has so far not made any “comments” as regards Koirala’s hard talk.
Be that as it may, the coming week appears to be not that a welcome week for the students affiliated to the EPA have already declared that they would certainly foil the B’day celebrations by any means.
The Palace remains undeterred. Under such a situation, how the government security agencies handles the presumed “clash” in between the Royalists and the Loktantric students beginning Saturday will have to be watched.
Perhaps it is time that the country will be forced to choose one among the two options: ceremonial monarchy or a republican order sans monarchy. No third option! July 5, 2007
I can’t understand why so many people, including the foreign ambssadors, civil society, journalists and intellectuals are so afraid of the King’s birthday bash. If you are not weak within, why be paranoid of somebody’s birthday celebrations? You celebrate your birthday. Every citizen has right to celebrate one’s birthday. The very fact that the YCL and other gangs of thugs are planning to rally against the King on Saturday is ample proof that the King is a major force and he can do anything anytime. The present government is unpopular, almost hated by the people. The King can oust this government at his wink of an eye. That is why everyone is afraid. This is just a bash, don’t be afraid, don’t start sweating, pause, alright, don’t panic. The King is also yours.

Birthday fiasco
Kathmandu Post
King Gyanendra is the luckiest king of Shah dynasty to have lived for sixty years. Since King Prithvi Narayan Shah, no king has lived so long (and you thought Nepal’s low life expectancy is due to poverty only?) Whether or not King Gyanendra will remain as the king is still in the hands of Constituent Assembly, but even as a general citizen he enjoys the right to celebrate his diamond-jubilee birthday and throw a party as per his wish. When the news about the king throwing party for over thousand people at a hotel in the capital spread like a wildfire, not many raised their brows. However, when all the “who’s who of the society” started receiving invitations, some on behalf of Queen Aishwarya and some on behalf of Crown Prince Paras, the people got alarmed. The birthday party was suddenly considered as a royal ploy to taste the political clout of the king. Hence, rejection.
Diplomatic corps have proved their talent to sniff the political connotation of the king’s invitation. The European ambassadors expressed their opinion collectively through British Ambassador Dr Andrew Hall that at this particular time their participation does not “send a helpful signal”. Outgoing US ambassador James F Moriarty said his attendance “would not serve any useful purpose”. Similarly, Indian ambassador Shiv Shankar Mukherjee had plain “not going” message to the king. These statements send a very powerful message in favor of Nepal’s democracy and the Nepali people. The democratic world deserves a standing ovation from all those who embrace plural values and foster democracy. It is now almost certain that except for some exceptions, all other diplomatic missions will be busy sending RSVP to the royal palace.
The message is loud and clear. The king’s resurgence is not possible in Nepal. Neither political party nor foreign forces nor the general public is ready to accept the king who imposed autocratic rule for over a year before bowing out to the pressure of people’s movement on April 24th, 2006. The birthday party also exposed king’s henchmen Swami Prapannacharya, Dr Durga Pokharel and others who have shamelessly drafted a citation terming King Gyanendra as the one who awarded democracy to this country, and as the only source of national integrity and stability. People certainly feel pity on such apologists. It is also an opportunity for the parties in the government to prove their stance on monarchy. Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has rightfully and tacitly urged the king to quit, respecting the people’s demand. He has also urged all the feudal fiats to support the constituent assembly election that would draft the constitution for a new Nepal. So, it is almost certain that the king’s birthday party is going to be a fiasco.

Perhaps it is time that the country will be forced to choose one among the two options: ceremonial monarchy or a republican order sans monarchy. No third option! July 5, 2007

NEPAL: YCL TO OPPOSE KING’S B’DAY BASH PEACEFULLY
TGW
Leaders of various political parties in Nepal today opined that the government should “impose a ban on King’s Birth Day celebrations”.
Speaking at a program held in the capital, Communist leader C.P. Mainali held that the King’s B’day Celebration is against the forward looking changes that are currently taking place in the country.
“Either the government should impose a ban or else people will stop the King being felicitated”, he added.
The government has neither supported the three-day party organized by the Royal Palace nor it has obstructed such celebration, such dubious stance is not a welcome move, Mainali continued.
However, we have conveyed our message to the Prime Minister that government should forbid such celebrations, he concluded.
“The King is still conspiring and this move is to unite the culprits of Janaandolan-II”, Shankar Pokharel, a UML central committee member opined.
This celebration can not be taken as a normal one as it has lots of political connotations attached, Pokharel added.
Bal Krishna Khand, president of Nepal Tarun Dal, a NC-D party affiliate, however, cautioned the government for any kind of violence during the celebrations and thus suggested the government to impose ban on such celebrations.
The YCL president, Ganesh Man Pun however, assured that a peaceful program will be organized to protest the celebration organized by a King who is not recognized as per the Interim Constitution and does not hold public support either.
The reactionaries have come to the open with their inner intention exposed, thus they must be stopped from holding any public meetings, Lekh Nath Neupane, NCP-Maoists Students’ wing president said.
Some civil society leaders sharing the platform also demanded a ban on Royal B’Day bash. July 6, 2007

We should not celebrate the foreigners insulting one of our political powers. It was wrong for the US ambassador to say the SPA failed becuase of their own incompetence and corrupt attitude when king was in power and it is wrong for all diplomats to humiliate king like this. Only we the Nepalis have the right to critisize or to do away with the king. When outsiders start making negative comments about one of us, it is not a good sign. Kantipurs’ assesment of the need for all the Nepalis to stand up and bow before the foreign diplomats just seems bizzare to me. The foreign diplomats are just creating a circus here and kantipur publication should be aware of the psychological impact of these on general public. Already there is a tendency of asking ambassadors for everything. Like, “What do you think about Monarchy in Nepal?” or ” Do you think CA elections should be held ASAP?”, “What do you think about the Maoists?”. All these questions should be asked to SPAM and the nepali people not outsiders.
We should let there be a real debate about the relevance or irelevance of monarchy in Nepal. There is no point in not letting any monarchist speak at all. To say the least it is not democratic and it also show the fear that exists among SPAM key players. Let kamal thapa, Rabindra sharma and other pro monarchist speak. Let us also not assume that any one who speaks for monarchy is infact speaking for dictatorship. We all know that king could have never taken over administrative powers without the incompetence and criminal mentality of the political leaders. So, if the SPAM fails now and with the king sidelined if not abolished, who do you think will take over? What are the advantages of having maoists into the mainstream (with all their crimes forgiven so easily), and what are the advantages of abolishing monarchy? Can any one here say more than 238 years of oppression? after all, monarchy was very inactive since 1990 and it was only the political leaders in the driving seat. All i am saying is that if the CA election is going to decide the fate of monarchy, why not let a real debate begin? We talk about federalism but no one knows what kind of federalism we are taking about. Similarly there are many other issues which have not been made clear yet.
I get amazed how foul words and cussing make it mpast the UWB moderation and things that have no such thing goes into moderation. Please remove foul language andf delete incomprehensible comments like that of rebelion a few blogs up. It either means the blog owners support this kind of rant or the moderation is messed up.
For the apologists of Bom and the likes of GPK, let me remind you that the only thing that has happened this past year or so is the removal of the King’s rule and the rule of the most feudal bahuns like GPK and Prachanda. If you are betting on these two to save this nation from all that is ill keep dreaming. The elections is supposedly around the corner and these chaps have not yet addressed the madhes issue, infact they aggrevate it more. These elections are nothing but a farce to distribute seats amongst Congress, maoists and UML: the biggest bahunbaad parties this nation has ever seen and never wants. If they are serious they have to talk and solve the madhes and janjati grievences now. The talk of handling the terai like a law and order situation is more conspiracy to undermine the madhes movement, because all these three feudal parties know that the madhes is lost to them. So the only half a chance to win any seats there is by undermining the groups and parties down there. Unfortunately this will only invite more trouble and definitely end the the dream of any elections. Therefore, I agree with some of the participants here that thios article is a waste of space, use the space for more pertinent issues like the madhesi and janjati issues, where the maoists are in terms of keeping up to all the agreements they have signed (which we know have been broken again and again, but people like Bom don’t think anything is wrong with that, while the King celebrating his birthday is a huge problem for him), where does the arms verification process satnd, and what are the logistics of the elections? Please don’t waste your space with pointless reactionary articles like the one by Bom ( clearly a maoist apologist).
Well the procession by “royalists” went off successfully with thousands participating even though the desperate maoists had camped out at khula manch all night and captured the area this morning. When people were gathering to walk peacefully to the palace to greet the King the maoists tried to instigate them by threatening, manhandling and grabbing flowers, to no avail. The signal is clear the maoists are reactionaries and numbers make them nervous – they were expecting a small number to show up after their threats made so that they could thug and bully their way to distrupt the process, unfortunately the numbers overwhelmed them and without their guns they were made pointless.
Banana Republic is what people like Bom and Wagle are aiming for. The future of Nepal will disintegrate right before our eyes. YCL & SPA are nothing but facade and farce of design inked in India that has nor the brain or the best interest of the country.
The way the things are each and every aspect of lives are being politicalized whereby no person with independent mind or pursuit will be free. CA is one example where rather than unifying on the strength of diversity, schism will widen to an extent where only option would be to band under political flag, caste, and community. This is where we are heading.
When wolf pack of 8 does not have any idea of what is next and needs to fed by foreign powers to state this, do that, and say this- we are heading towards unmitigated disaster from where no person called NEPALI will come out unscathed.
the majority of people who leave comments in this blog are nepali so to think that the views that are written here are not representing a part of nepali thinking is an absolute ignorant show of no respect towards other citizens. when will people learn to live and let live.

The truth and right shall always prevail-this is the universal truth and people attending King’s birthday proves it.
Well the procession by “royalists” went off successfully with “thousands” participating … (!)
Thousands? Have royalists forgotten to count? At best, there were two hundred people demonstarting for king in a valley of over 2 million people and a country of over 25 million Nepalese.
But I was surprised that so many–200 is too many royalists–turned up in support of the king.
Well the procession by “royalists” went off successfully with “thousands” participating
buddy, looks like you’ve been so tormented by the thranshing the king has got during the last year, you’ve forgotten how to count. let me suggest you the correct sentence:
Well the procession by “royalists” went off successfully with “thousands” ( read “hundreds”) participating.
time to go back to school. don’t sit in front of your PC all day googling for and ridiculing any anti-KG blogs.
