Nepali Politics: Brahmin and Chhetri Everywhere

While for some this article might be yet-another-Bahun/Chhetri-bashing-crap and for others a voice that needs to be much more louder: When certain people willingly or unwillingly control too much share in a nation, it is very likely that that would bring long-term political instability and long run economic damages to the country. When 10% whites controlled the 90% of farm in Zimbabwe, we know what happened. Black market is exchanging 1 US dollar for up to 300,000 and economic pundits are predicting that the rate could well and truly reach up to a million by the end of this year. Less than 30% Brahmin and Chhetri enjoy more than 80% portfolios in: Bureaucracy, Scholarships, Business, Media, Army, Police, Customs, and Judiciaries etc.

By Krishna Giri in Australia

Few days back, a news item on nepalnews caught my eyes. It was a media release about writing the statute of the Nepalese American Journalist Association within six months and complete their legal registration process. President Girish Pokharel, vice president Sushil Neupane, general secretary Krishna Sharma, treasurer Gunraj Luitel and members Parl Regmi and Sharmila Upreti control this association. The list is not over yet. Manoj Acharya, Chandra Prasai, Hari Shiwakoti – and three advisors- Tara Baral, Krishna Kadel and Dr. Dharma Adhikari. Why I am telling these names? From the structure of this committee, I can see a topological view of Nepali politics and dominance of Brahmin and Chhetri in our society. (Even in the US, the Brahmin/Chhetri domination prevails!) Rules made and adopted by these people are Laws even today and they are not giving up yet.

Lets look at the most powerful interim ministers, who are responsible for making new Nepal, as described by them, where they exercise inclusive democracy- leaving behind no minority groups unheard: And the (Brahmin/Chhetri) list is:

• Giriaja Prasad Koirala – Prime Minister
• Ram Chandra Poudel – Peace and Reconstruction
• Krishna Bahadur Mahara – Information and Communication
• Pradeep Nepal – Education
• Ram Sharan Mahat – Finance
• Krishna Sitoula – Home
• Hisila Bhattarai (Yami)– Physical Planning
• Giriraj Mani Pokhrel– Health
• Ramesh Lekhak – Labour and Transport
• Gynendra Karki – Water Resource

The list is on and on. Why our society is so disable? Why it can’t move without the rules of Brahmin and Chhetri? GP Koirala, Puspa K Dahal, Sher B Deuba, MK Nepal, CP Mainali etc, signed the historic Eight Points agreement between SPA and Maoist, designed to form a New Nepal.

Take a look at the (Brahmin/Chhetris) standing committee of CPN-UML

• Madhav Kumar Nepal
• Amrit Kumar Bohara
• Bam Dev Gautam
• Bharat Mohan Adhikari
• Ishwar Pokhrel
• Jhala Nath Khanal
• K.P. Sharma Oli
• Keshav Badal
• Mod Nath Prashrit
• Mukunda Neupane
• Pradeep Nepal
• Sahana Pradhan
• Yuba Raj Gyawali

And have a look at the people whose analysis, thinking, and beliefs will decide our future: The Interim Constitution Draft Committee (very 1st one):

• Laxman Prasad Aryal, coordinator
• Harihar Dahal, member
• Shambhu Thapa, member
• Sindhu Nath Pyakurel, member
• Mahadev Yadav, member
• Khim Lal Devkota, member

The most revolutionary Nepali political party, who is responsible for the death of more than 15000 lives, is CPN Maoist. They have promised to overthrow the feudalistic society of Nepal and deliver a free and fair society where labours get a fare share. Ideologically they have lost the ground but still they are trying hard to prove that they are core follower of Shining Path and Pol Pot style socialist revolution. Ultimately, they are in the crossroad of modern capitalism and traditional nationalistic extremism. They are in dilemma, whether to choose economic reform approach, social reconstruction approach, diplomatic approach, patriotic approach, OR just keep following the rules of intimidations and torture. Time is ruthless. Their political forecast to win the Nepali hearts by activating YCL failed and they running around red-faced. The recent crises in Middle East, bloodbath between Fatah and Hamas factions, who share the Palestine Government, have shattered them.

Apparently, Maoist style leadership is the carbon copy of Hamas in Palestine, who are in the government and still shut down the nation, kill people, involve in kidnap, murder, extortion, armed attack etc. Maoists and its alliance often shut down sections of the country. Recent row between PM and Maoist supremo has triggered the uncertainty about the motives of the Maoist and the sincerity of the SPAM unity as a whole. Personally, I don’t believe in such a democracy where a political party enjoys national flag and also engaged in forceful abduction, extortion, kidnapping and murder. The country is still experiencing loads of extra judicial killings, disappearances, internal displacement, continuing seizure of private properties, and constant fear of torture/intimidation/physical punishment. Our poor country is in constant pressure to call a date of CA elections but we, the Nepali citizen, are yet to receive manifestoes from the SPAM and other minor parties.

There are various public propagandas about the Maoist vision in the future of Nepal. People are getting the first smell of their capability and their commitments to competitive multiparty democracy and enterprise-based economy. And yet again, Bramhan and Chhetri control the leadership of this red flag party, one among hundred Nepali Communist Party. Here is the list (Brahmin/Chhetri):

• Puspa Kamal Dahal
• Kiran Vaidhya
• Baburam Bhattarai
• CP Gajurel
• Dinanath Sharma
• Krishna Br Mahara
• Hishila Bhattarai (Yami)
• Pamfa Bhusal
• Top Br Rayamajhi
• Janardan Sharma
• Lokendra Bista
• Lekh Raj Bhatta
• Naraya Dahal
• Bamdev Chhetri
• Purna Subedi
• Amrita Thapa
• Satya Pahadi
• Sarala Regmi
• Khim Devkota

The list may go forever. They talk about autonomous regions and supremacy to their rule on their own region by their own people. Who belongs to where? Are we going back to 15th century to find out who ruled certain regions and who deserves what? Is this is the call of 21st century? Are we heading for a united nation or for a divided nation than ever before? Today’s call is not for divisions but for harmony and consolidation. We must dream for a nation where people from every race, religion, sex, and ethnicity come to the arena and be proud and humble for being a Nepali.

Autonomous regions or federal model of governance is understandable. But why a Tamang can’t be a Chief of Tharuwan Region? Why a Gauchan can’t be a Chief of Kirat region? OR why a Brahmin can’t be a Chief of Khumbhuwan Region? OR why a Chaudhary can’t be a Chief of a Chure Bhaware? A charismatic Magar leader born in Birgunj should go to Rolpa to engage in Politics? Where does he belong? Are you apprehending the democratic rights of movement and settlement within the nation?

Time need answers not promises. We belong to the same country vesting the same themes of nationality. We are covered and secured by the same constitution, then why there is such a division in the leadership style and models. Indigenous communities or the Nepali people as a whole are taking none of theses decisions. A bunch of tyrants, who mostly belong to aristocratic and suppressive family, design, develop, decide and implement these policies. If we believe in democracy, every major decisions of the country should be decided by the referendum, where people’s voices are heard rather than regulated.

Nepali congress carries the longest history as a democratic party and this party has ruled more than 90% period of Democratic Nepal. Who controls this party? Lets have look (Brahmin/Chhetri in the Central Working Committee):
• Girija P Koirala
• Sushil Koirala
• Sailaja Acharya
• Ram Chandra Poudel
• Govinda Raj Joshi
• Krishna Sitaula
• Ram Saran Mahat
• Chakra Bastola
• Khum Br Khadka
• Mahesh Acharya
• Gopal Pahadi
• Nara Hari Acharya
• Laxman Ghimire
• Dilendra Badu
• Shekahr Koirala

I can’t go any further. Simply there is no significance presence of other people. And they talk about new style of inclusive democracy. People need to be included in the first place. People are participating in these uprising for their rights, not for liberal grants from feudal leaders. Citizens’ rights can’t be dictated by these feudal mobs. It has to come by the will of people, but not by the will of tyrants. Today’s call is for equality, partiality, involvement and solidarity. These voices of people must be heard and all the time, as history has proven, and every time, these people’s voices can’t go as a credit to these autocrats, whose democracy is limited to their families and puppets. This time the democracy should be for people, not for leaders.

Second youth wing of Nepali congress, Tarun Dal is lead by Bal Krishna Khad and he is there forever. I don’t think he is going to quit unless he is promoted to some top rank in the party. And Brahmans and Chhetris once again dictate the student wing, which is the hope for future and of course future of our leaders new Nepal. Recently, Pradeep Poudel elected President of NSU and his rivals were Bikash Koirala and Badri Pandey. Note their last names.

I am not just complaining about these tyrants who control Nepal. They dictate every Nepali society. Take a look at the people who control the Non Resident Nepal, the famous global Nepali Diaspora (Brahmin/Chhetri) assembly.
• Upendra Mahato
• Sharada Thapa
• Indira Ban
• Ram Thapa
• Sagar Nepal
• Chiranjibi Dhakal
• Dipak Khadka
• Naresh Koirala
• Harihar Aryal
• Kumar Basnet and so forth

And who is in my backyard (NRN Australia)?

• Mana KC
• Ranju Thapa
• Goba Katuwal
• Shyam KC
• Krishna Hamal
• Pradeep Dhakal
• Durga Bastola
• Pramod Khatiwada
• Bina Poudel
• Ashok Dhakal and so onwards.

These lists are simply hard to follow and it can be utterly awful when you compare with what you see and what you hear. By no means, I am saying that all the leadership should be passed to other races. We need transparency and fairness. I uniformly oppose the indigenous leaders who term ‘Ruling Class’ to Brahmin and Chhetri to achieve cheap fame and popularity. That should not be the case. We need a strong, united, committed, and forward thinking NEPAL.

When certain people willingly or unwillingly control too much share in a nation, it is very likely that that would bring long-term political instability and long run economic damages to the country. When 10% whites controlled the 90% of farm in Zimbabwe, we know what happened. Less than 30% Brahmin and Chhetri enjoy more than 80% portfolios in: Bureaucracy, Scholarships, Business, Media, Army, Police, Customs, and Judiciaries etc. Lets start to stop this communal outrageous from today to give a better future for our glorious nation. It’s a matter of urgency to give people a reasonable share in all areas of the country. Let the new generation enjoy democracy rather than hearing about it all their lives.

Krishna Giri, a student of International Relations, MA in Sydney, is neither Brahmin/Chhetiri nor janajati. “I believe [Giris] think they are inclined towards Chetri but Brahmins accept them widely,” Krishna says. “Personally, I think they are Sanyashi and they deserve to be in Jungle :).”

This is a bad inflammatory article. These things should never be an issue. If all the media keep on scrutinizing these things then it will only bring division among Nepalese. You say every ethinic should get good reasonable share. But what I want to tell you is that the sharing doesnot come from ethinic group or colour of skin rather it should come from the skills and ability of individual.

If some other ethinic group is that good then nobody will stop him/her to become a top class leader. Today it may be bhaun /chettri tomorrow it may be madhesi and newars.

I appreciate your feeling GIRI ji. But still this is not a real problem. The real problem is to be divided Kathmandu in the small federal states. So that the minority people can participate in the local decision level of their own village and state by themselves.
May be caste issue is highlighted but provision of KTM -Centric thinking is basic problem of current Nepal. If this is not solved then neither CPN-M or any Forum Can solve the problem efficiently.
    Thanks.

And look what’s happening now in Zimbabwe. I am not a Bhunist by any means. However, restucturing the state is a timely process and it needs to be done properly and rationally to be effective. I think a good start would be the CA elections whereby all the ethic groups would be able to get propotional representation and a voice in the government. But again there needs to be a systematic way redistribute power and everything else. We cannot afford a Robert Mugabe type restucturing.

    Giri Ji,
Very informative article in terms of ‘who-is-who’ in higher echelon of Nepali social/political structure. Other than that, your artilce doesn’t server any purpose.

Beside, your conclusion is handicapped by vague/meaningless statments such as these:

    1. We need a strong, united, committed, and forward thinking NEPAL.

    2. It’s a matter of urgency to give people a reasonable share in all areas of the country. Let the new generation enjoy democracy rather than hearing about it all their lives.

There’s no denying that the present model of resource distribution is not balanced in ethnic terms. Certain ethnic groups have more share than they deserve. I presume, this problem has been pretty evident over the decades, even frotified by the rise of insurgency–the Moaists.

What your article does is– a good analogy of: shining a torch light at the blazing fire, and caution everyone, that there is a fire. Unfortunately, we are getting burnt in that fire, and at the verge of getting charred, so your late-meaningless caution/alaram is NO GOOD at this point, unless your target audience are–idiots, who don’t know, who runs the country YET.

With a higher education from the foreign Institution, i would have expected a little more analytical shot at the issue. But, Alas! my naive wishful thinking that WISDOM COMES WITH COLLEGE DEGREE.

    Cheers!!!

Monarchy is the major example of caste system!

Caste system cannot be overcome by simply exchanging one ruling caste with another or by rebalancing the castes in a certain quota system.

The only way out of the trap of this useless and divisive discussion is to establish a neutral system of quality control. Only when the most qualified person gets the position the problems can be solved well.

In Nepal a system persists in all castes where family connections are more important than qualifications. This is exactly the same inside the seemingly supressed castes. Not the fact that a Koirala is a Chetri/Bahun is the problem, but that he can put his own family members into influential positions despite their low qualifications.

To create a modern, effective society in Nepal, forget about the useless, baseless and obsolete caste system, but effectively control the qualification of the one who gets the post.

The simple argument of the author, that certain persons are in positions only because they belong to certain castes must be replaced by criticizing their specific qualifications in the subject they are working on.

Let us hope that this populist discussion will not finally lead to the result, that the few qualified position holders in Nepal lose their jobs, because they belong to the wrong caste.

The whole discussion seems to me like a lame excuse for own inabilities and the hollow attempt to gain positions by generally blaming people for their caste. This is simply caste racism, just this time the other way round than since centuries practiced in Nepal. It is just the old, simple way of thinking in fashionable, new, ‘kick them out’ clothes.

Evaluate the person, not his/her name!

P.S.: If kings would get the post by qualification, not twice they would come from the same family!

Bhim Bahadur and Knight, I completely agree with you.

May be the non bhauns and chetris should declare that they are incapble of doing anything and we can reserve seats for them in the parliament, scholarships, lok sewa etc regardless of their competence. The whole of Nepal is suffering except for the SPA leaders and these are the only bahuns and chettris that these idiots can think of as elites. These SPAM leaders were given mandate by the entire nation to do whatever they feel like and so what are these assholes complaining about. These same bahuns and hindus declared this nation to be a secular state without any demands from the public and you still believe that they are bahuns? The second names only tells you where people came from not where they are today and i sincerely hope that this blog site will be smarter than this before they accept half baked yet malicious articles like these. There have been reports of prachanda and bhattarai being chritians, and i dont think that makes them bahuns does it?

    Giriji:

    This is an excellent article.

Naturally, the Bahunists and the Royalists and the Maoists will use all the democratic and tolerance based arguments to refute your writing, but worry not; each of these counter-arguments only cements your theory more for even democracy, peace and the idea of what should and should not be tolerated is at the whim of the the elite minority.

I would even extend your analysis further and dig deeper into the actual composition of each seperate classification. Why is “bahun chhetri” always grouped into one when the overwhelmining minority in each of the categories you outline is the chhetri. Seperate the chhetris from the Bahuns and the analysis becomes even clearer.

It’s never about tolerance or democracy when the elites are on top… when they are under threat, everything is about tolerance democracy.

We will never let this state of affairs prevail in Nepal again. And you are right, the elites seem to control even the activism in other countries like America – every organization there is domintaed by some bahun or the other.

Hats off to you for your courage in speaking the untainted truth.

mr giri being a student in international relationship, is still unaware of what is what. well with this degree he has 3 choices as i can figure out, work in an international agency, be a teacher or work for foreign ministry.
if he works for IA then the now one will be listing to his bullshit. if a teacher, the students might just well quit studying and if MOFA, nepals delicately balanced foreign relation is completely screwed.
besides in the list that he has given, it seems that he has forgotten JTMM, MJF and other organizations where there is no bahuns and chettries. more than that in the list given above there are only 8 chettrie leaders where as there are 4 janajatis even though he missed the leaders from other parties namely, amik sherchan, ananddevi, dev gurung, and so on.
being bias is something and giving false statements is something else.
i think all of them except the maoist were elected to thier respective post at one time or another. so it is next to being useless to argue on how they are the PM, Ministers or leaders of their respective parties.

the only thing that i partially agree in the above article is in the last phrase, Krishna says. “Personally, I think they are Sanyashi and they deserve to be in Jungle.” well krishna, i dont know about other giris but you really do deserve to be in the jungle.

you are veering your argument where you are most comfortable–obfuscation. i infere from your first statement that, “bahuns” are the vangaurds of Hinduism, a grave responsibility indeed, by the way who asked them to take it on their shoulders? your argument doesn’t even come close to the issues being discussed here, but if you beg to differ and you see the relevency of it, go ahead explain yourself, we are here all ears.

What makes you think, it was bahuns/hindus who decided Nepal to be secular nation hence forth? Let me spell it out for you “PLURALISTIC”, yes Nepal is a pluralistic society, and why the faak (expletive intended) any, so called “democratic” government needs to promote certain religion as a state reiigion.

you have utterly smudged the line between ethnicity and religion. yes, certain ethnic groups belong to certain religion by and large, but it doesn’t mean all bahuns are Hindus.

you can be bahun at the same time, you can be an atheist, christian, muslim, liberal, conservative, straight, gay and many more. but, one thing for sure, you are not the guardian of Hiduism. Faak (again expletive) what kind of faith/conviction is that someone else needs to guard for you?

Anyone’s Last name merely tells us “who” they are and not “what” they are. It neither details the personality or quality of a person. I believe that current state (which needless to mention is unacceptable) of our nation reflects the qualification , dedication and effort of the people steering the country’s social, economic and political platform and NOT their Last Names (surnames, thar etc).

    Giri:

Your article is well said and you back it up with good data. There is no denying that Brahmins/Chettris are the new “Sri Aath (SPA+M) Sarkar” of today. I am sure you are well aware of Mr Dhor Bdr Bista’s FATALISM & DEVLOPMENT which highlights the issue of Nepali socio-economic & political system.

I would even go further than you and find the basis of Bajun/Chettri domination in Nepal as a case of religion and politics complementing one another in sociological terms. Both Hinduism as a religion has promoted the Sanatan Dharma with its four tiered Varna system: stages of life, goals of life & livlihoods of life.

Hinduism itself has become degenerated to allow this ideal system to turn into a caste based system ruled by the falicy in the doctrine of karma. This degenerated Hindu social system also allowed for brahmins to be the sole intrepretor of the scriptures and practise scholaticism. Brahmins were the medium between god and humans which is a very powerful tool. This is the basis of the power for brahmins which they have expolited in the Hindu society by capitalizing the opportunity to learn and exploit.

If a particular group has generational advantage over others (as in scholastic quest), then, naturally, they will prosper as they have experience. Other mariginalized groups will have catch up to the brahmins.

In order to level the playing field, it is not only needed to have affirmative action, but, also a reform of socio-religious system itself.

We need to translate all the scriptures from Sanskrit to vernacular languages. Sanskrit is a dead language. Why conduct religious affairs in a dead language that no one understands…

Next, we really need to understand the actual meaning of a brahmin which is a learned person. Anyone can become a brahmin or an acharya, even a surdra or a woman. If the scriptures and sacred texts are translated to even just Nepali, everyone can read, analyze & discuss it.

When we start thinking, discussing & analyzing about our socio-religious system, then, we will be able to reform the system. The deep fault lies in the Hindu social system. The religion has been mis-interpreted to suit a particular group’s advantage.

It is time to reform the religion, the mind & our actions before we even try to reform the country. The question is do we think about that & can we do it?

You are the only one who have made guts to write and post this informative articles. Even after practicing 50 years of democracy, these leaders have not realised there should be place for each and every caste in power. That is why terai andolan took place in finding their presence in powers and definately others will follow the same in very near future. It is useless to think that only bahun and chhetri are capable of handling powers. There are so many other people of different castes who can run the embassador, VC, CDO, minister, prime minister, chief of commission, parliament members etc.. etc.. except professional line. There should be andolan like in terai for equal sharing of power, otherwise neither the democracy can run smoothly nor any leader get any kind of good respect. Even if majority of bahun and chhetri comes in CA election, I think the made new constitution will be futile job and temporary.

When rest of the world talks about technology and progress, we are stuck in talking about caste, creed and religion. And this is not going to fade too soon. That is the saddest part.

We are brahmins, chettris, newars first. Only then we are Nepalese. It took a trip and education to Australia for Mr. Giri to realize this. Perhaps we should all go there and take lessons from him.

To correct the cource, no brahmins, chettris or newars should be allowed to contest elections or join government service for at least 30 years. There should be higher rate of tax for them and Marwaris in business for at least 20 years. Then only the situation can improve.

No matter what you say about caste- it not going out soon. And it ain’t a bad thing -it is natural. Even if you look in the animal world there is variation among animals of the same species. So what gives. The point that must be highlighted and argued is tolerance, merit orientation and equality with no discrimination or reverse discrimination. Problem does not get solved by going back in time but moving forward with a thinking that can absorb, adjust, integrate and assimilate ideas, caste and creed. You cannot reinvent or revision as Maoist are violently trying to do with past vestiges, cultural norms or society’s parameter. Its not possible, just look at China or Russia for a proof.

Although there is disproportionate tilt to one caste- this does not mean a thing if there is good checks and balances with strong rule of law and justice system. But the problem in Nepal now is- the very same group are trying to subvert the law, security and nationhood under a pretext of Loktrantra- in hearts of hearts they really do not know what Loktrantra means or does. These misfits will hue and cry at the behest of others without knowing what is in best interest of the country. For this I cannot forgive them easily.

The current political structure is the residual of the semi-colonial system instituted by the Royals and Ranas. Accept the fact that Nepalese state has failed and so have the political leaders. (seen the post of uwb about dailekhis?).

The author has the point that all the politicians have the same upper caste background and the state is not inclusive. I’d not comment on NRN’s as most of them are uneducated folks, officially refugees. However, its time for rebuilding and not for venting a diatribe.

Two points in the post are simply unreasonable:
-Zimbabwe: Robert Mugabe destroyed whatever was left of modern farming. His regime is worst than the white rule.
-Richness of the country: Nepal doesn’t have any resource nor riches nor industries. The current situation is bhuifuttas against bhuifuttas scrambling for donor’s dollar. The question of exploitation by one caste/class, though real, is pretty ridiculous when the poor level of national resources are taken into account.

    Not so fast arthas.

The royals have been around for some 200+ years; the Ranas were in control for some 100 odd years. Can you tell me how long the Bahunists have been around for and how intertwined the Bahunist supremacy is with Hinduism and politics in South Asia for centuries?

I’d agree that the Mugabe point is perhpas questionable (on moral and democratic grounds, not on practical grounds) but if you look at Zimbabwe’s macro economic indicators, the country is definitely worse off today than it was before (in real terms). So in this regard, the writer is correct.

I’m not sure what you see as “unreasonable” in the writer’s claim about Nepal’s lack of natural resources – or are you one of those fools who don’t understand the difference between what a monopoly and a monopsony? Still dreaming that Nepal’s water resources are going to make every Nepali rich beyond belief? So the writer’s point is completely valid.

The exploitation of the masses by the culture of Bahunism and Royalism is magnified in light of the sharp contrast in the perception of richness versus the reality of what it would take to develop what little Nepal has (in terms of resources), is right on the money.

Since the government did not been the need to promote any particular religion (or promote all religion) as a state religion, it shows that religion is not their priority.

INDIAN LEADERS BEHIND NEPAL’S TERAI UNREST
    TGW

Kathmandu: First in Nepalgunj followed by Gaur and finally in Siddarthnagar, the only question is, will the communal discord engulf the nation as a whole?

In a first ever communal violence between the Madhesi and the Pahade community after the advent of what is called Loktrantra in Dogahara Village Siddarthnagar near Bhairahawa, left more than a dozen people injured and two policemen admitted to a hospital.

A meager cause was reported for such high scale violence but it was unusual. Obviously, news of such sorts does not belong to the ear pleasing category.

Whatever is the cause and whosoever may have initiated the violence finally, with the media added color the news coming form Siddarthanagar too emerged as a big threat to the age-old communal harmony between the two communities.

“The Pahade Community within which there are many divisions too and there are inclusion demands from various ethnic groups as well, but the entire community is facing ethnic cleansing in Madhesh”, an Engineer working for the Nepal Electricity Authority who was recently driven out of Rajbiraj in Saptari District for his birth origin, finally arrived in Dharan, revealed all these talking to Telegraph over the telephone.

Those men who came at the office quarters in the mid-night had threatened him for his life if he did not leave Rajbiraj within few days time. The next morning he took a public vehicle along with his family to Dharan- an Eastern hilly town in Sunsari District with a Padhade majority, where he feels now safe.

However, he was not surprised as to those men who had threatened him for his life, were those coming from across the border. Not the Nepali Madhesis.

Here comes the fresh remarks made by S.D.Muni, a self declared Nepal expert from India and a guru of Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai and many more in Nepal, who is currently touring Nepal, is reported as having said that some Indian MPs in their personal capacity and guided by vested interests and some Hindu extremists from India could be involved in the Nepal’s Terai unrest. Unfortunately, Muni does not reveal as to what could be the benefit of those influential Indian leaders in creating unrest in Nepal’s Terai.

Muni further adds, political instability and violence in Nepal’s Terai region could affect India, and urges New Delhi to “openly help” the Himalayan nation resolve the Terai issue, the ToI reports. However, he rules out the possibility of disintegration of the nation, reports ToI.

It is by now well accepted by all that criminal elements in both Nepal and India has been deployed to further deteriorate situation in the Terai mainly by groups operating from India. And there is a fear that in case of Nepal Government’s retaliation to curb the growing Terai unrest, then the legitimate Madhesi demands would be buried under the blood that will flow in the days to come, particularly in the Terai.

It will be the newars and bahuns rulling this country now. And people like baje will drown in his own sorrow complaining about bhunism. People like Baje are capable of doing nothing on his or her own, they only see themselves as victims, marginalized by our inept society. What leaders can they produce? Even the thakuris can only lead with guns and have no administrative skills. But jealousy of people like Baje is understandable of course as he or she is not jealous of others success but of his or her own failure. If people like Baje is not afraid to show his racist, discriminative and ignorant colors why should bahuns just take it on his chin. Without the bahuns there would be no democracy in Nepal. United Nepal my ass. Who needs it. Who even needs Nepal now? Some people are fighting for their communities, some for their political beliefs, some for money but i guarantee you that there is no one fighting for his country. What Nepal again? Nepal as a nation is gone. Vanished. We are bankrupt, and can not even pay for our fuel. We are incapable of managing this country. People like Baje try to destroy what ever is left of this country.
