UWB Note: Here is Maya’s first piece in the series. And here is the first part of this article.

maoist graffiti on the walls of a school

You seem like you have never watched english movie, English mobie’s story r also written in such kind of theme. You have sterotyped english movie out of the world, modern, scientific, action, dog type love only. Many english movie are also based on such kind of cat love theme.

Anyways Maya you write very well, and your story is not a common one it is unique.

    Hey Guys,

I am wondering what image should gorkhapatra represent?

If it’s a mouth peace of the government, then why is there the news of the king visiting Dakchinkali as the main news?

Further, Why is there a quote of the king when people in Nepal are destroying his “mahabadi” as being fake and full of conspiracies?

What message does Gorkhapatra give to the people, when it is supposed to represent the present government who is passing bills for establishing REPUBLIC Nepal??……..

Hey is there something going wrong with what is said and what’s being done??…….. Are the people’s demand being overshadowed?

    Let’s speak out against it

    Maya,

I appreciate your approach very much.
very nice style….It touched me more as it is written from a women’s eye.

    ……
When I hear some men shouting “maoists are terrorists. kill them, crush them completely”

I question myself-Why some guys cling to imported logic and leave their compassion.

I am also equally skeptic of maoists top leaders. Prachandapath ,and other barbaric autocratic activities of maoists leave me suspicious.

But maoists are a group of different kind of people. Some are blinded fundamentalists;some are pure criminals ;But most are driven by the dream for better nepal.

They are not so wild that they cannot be tamed.

If there is garauntee of better nepal, so many are willing to give away their arms.

If the demand of CA is fulfilled , leaving some few most will happily come to multi-party democracy.

Please leave your imported notion of democracy and US defined terrorism and try to know your own fellow people, maoist siblings and lets work together for agreement.

“But most are driven by the dream for better nepal…..If the demand of CA is fulfilled , leaving some few most will happily come to multi-party democracy…”

    Taaya,
You seriously need to see something more. You are right about the “dream” but understand that this is just a dream. Prosperity does not descend with the election of CA or as soon as Gyane is kicked out. The so-called leaders of mao are the terrorists for real. Try visiting a rural household, make sure they know who you are, otherwise they fear to speak against the maoists, and ask them how many times have maoists scared them to death. Then you will realize who these freaks are. Yes, there is inequality everywhere and equality is not the best thing in the world for various reasons.

However, we need to compromise as we cannot tolerate instability anymore. However, these maoists seriously deserve jail sentence at the least.

Look at our blog if you want to see more on these things and other discussions..

So, you have banned me, UWB? Wow…Congratulations on your democratic principles…But, yes, we are continuing our campaign for an unmoderated site..and I am happy with the progress so far..

    UWB Clarification:

To be honest with you, we really don’t have time to think about banning you. We have more important things to do. We are closely monitoring the campaign that you are launching against this site. We happily defend your right to do so. We are also aware about the difficulties faced by some of the genuine commentators because of our compulsion to moderate some comments. We can’t let this site hijacked by some people who try to fill its comments sections with pornographic contents and links. We also can’t let this site filled with automatically generated spam comments that we receive at least 25 hundreds a day.

So, while we try to maintain control over those evil commentators (who just post personal attack in mean language against public personalities that you can’t utter in your family) and pornographic links, genuine commentators like you have through moderation. We sincerely regret that. If you have any options, please suggest us and, we are happy to implement them here. We thought that you were aware about those problems since you run your own blog site. But you seem to be ignorant or pretend to be like that.

And about the content of the genuine comments. We are open to all kinds of criticism and praise to anyone (including king Gyanendra and Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala) in a language that could be used in a family. But we can’t tolerate any comments that undermine our national sovereignty and national integrity of Nepal. That is against the constitution of this country and we abide by the law of the land.

(By the way, good luck with you new site. But if you really want to discuss in an already established site, we suggest you to visit sajha.com).

  12. hari sharma Avatar

    Thanks UWB..
At least now you have agreed that there is a problem and that it is the readers who count the most. It took you so long to come to the ground? While the reasons for moderations may be genuine, you should create a filter so that such activities can be avoided. By this I mean, disclose the rules for writing comments and then filter out the genuine commentators who come out here regularly. In addition, make filters for such abusive words.

There are a lot of sensible commentators out here like Kirat,Pundit, Sherlock,Taaya and so forth, who have to go through the same phase of moderation like those insensible readers.

So, unless you rightly create such filters, the impulse of lively discussion goes to the ground. You are so much into an argument and you write a long response but by the time when your comment gets published, it goes unnoticed as there are several others published after that.
Moreover, you should decentralize the moderation power. Don’t think that you will lose power because of it. Get people around the globe who are sensible and who can moderate comments just as they come. This can be useful for the people who are new to the site. However, you must be aware that most of the people who write comments here are the same old folks.

I think this also goes through the same moderation…again congratulations….and yes..we will continue with the new site as the alternate forum until and unless there are sufficient changes here to allow unmoderated comments at least for the regular visitors…

My questions and comments to the sympathizers of the Maoist movement:

    1. Karl Marx was a historian and a philosoper who was touched by the wretched living conditions of the poor factory workers in Europe. Therefore, he envisoned a society without the system of private property. Marx thought that the system of private property was the major source of evil, and human civilization will be better off without it. I have heard that Karl Marx remains as the major source of inspiration and legitimacy to the Nepalese Maoists. I would like to know if the Nepalese Maoists would also eradicate the system of private property from the country if they came to power. If not, who will be responsible for the death of more than 13000 individuals vis-a-vis the immense social and economic costs paid by this poor nation?

    2. Coming back to Marxism: Karl Marx conceived this theory some 150 years ago on the basis of his study of European societies. After this theory was published, more than 5 million people all over the world have lost their lives for or against it. In spite of this, the socialist society remains an unfulfilled dream. However, those who run revolutions in the name of Marxism never try to understand that this theory is not obsolete and cannot address today’s problems. The Nepalese Maoists who adhere to this ghost theory continue to claim that they are the 21st century communists! How can a person who holds 150 years old ideology be called the leader of the new generation?

    3. ‘Chairman’ Mao, who is another idol for the Nepalese Maoists, killed half a million innocent civillians during his infamous cultural revolution. Most of those killed were bureaucrats, artists, and academics. Mao died in 1976 without a word of apology for his vicious crimes. The infamous cultural revolution was banned and criticized by another communist leader Deng Xiaoping after Mao’s death. How can a revoultion run under the name of a monster criminal can give social justice to the people of Nepal?

    4. Social inequality is, of course, a shame on the face of the whole human civilization. This avoidable evil continues to deprives billions of people in this universe from their right to justice and resources. However, social inequality can be reduced if not eliminated through human efforts. But to argue that the Marxist and Maoist visons are the only ways of reducing social inequality is sheer absurd. What about other peaceful ways, for instance, “Make Poverty History” movement which is being run by Nelson Mandela and famous Western artists? The Maoists are as guilty as those who protect and benefit from the social inequality of Nepal.

I donot support the path of violence chosen by Maoists .
If Prachanda and Baburam are proved as the autocratic warlord just manipulating the poor sentiments and recklessly doing some ‘rajnaitik prayog’ , then I support that they should be punished and penalised.

My concern and compassion are for those thousands of innocent and naive followers who follow maoism not for the sake of any ism but for the search of a better Nepal.
If we care to see them, most are the young teenagers who being deprived of adequete knowledge and vision are blinded by the maoist dream.
They are so naive that they cannot even realise that the dream of communist utopia that maoists are talking about is an impossible one.

they have chosen maoism because they don’t know any other ‘ism’
they chose violence because they don’t know the power of non-violence.
They are not fundamentalists (they donot even clearly know what prachandapath is abt) but innocence is their problem.

If a garauntee comes from SPA or any other political parties for better new Nepal , they will surely leave their weapons.
I am sure more than anybody, maoists themselves must be in hurry of agreement.

So I urge SPA and all other responsible parties to create suitable environment with promise of new Nepal.

Everybody should ponder why the maoists power and influence is increasing day by day.
    “aakhir kohi kina himshrak huncha?”

The only solution for maoists problem is
    not military(failed step)
not alienation(which so called democrats want to do)
but an environment and a promise.

It is better and easier to deviate their army from violence than kill them with violence.

I am happy with our current government’s approach.
    They are doing well.
But here I find so many bloggers and esp. foreign so-called experts that need to rethink.
