I still remember when bhattrai said “kathmandu to manchele ghash chanchen”(people of kathmandu eat grass).
Being from kathmandu myself I really hated when he said. But now i think its true.
Today i heard that the king was using the embassadors from US ,India to pressure the parties to agree for a all party government(of with the king still in the power),and also heard that the bhattrai is being asked to be the PM,so that congress party would give up the present agitation. And also heard from a reliable source within the congress party that Girija was positive about the kings proposal.
WOW!!!!,,,WHAT A GREAT NEWS!!!People died for no reasons, i think this is exactly what the leaders wanted.
When i critisized the leaders in my earlier comment some of you said i was a stupid person, and the leaders were good and the leaders would throw away the king..hahahahah
So in relpy to those who said i was a stupid moron here is what i want to say–Seems that paras will be still sucking your blood so be careful to let your sisters and wives to go out, your prince paras may gets his hands on then, and also good luck with another 15 years of corruption. By the way dont go to discos and anywhere near paras’s car, he may kill you.
Youth of nepal, they have no job avilable in the city and hiking price of food and severe life is going on without hopeless future. so better to be in the street that someone wage his living or even better to be in the jail for food.
No electricity no blogging.
All these road demonstrations are becoming the place of recreation or time-pass for the people of all the ages! It has lost the real meaning of protest. We are fed up with these everyday dramas.
Hey Kalu, we’ve had 200 years of timepass, dont equate our revolution to your timepass.
Lads you have to go do it. Do not stop till the idiot king steps down. Why dont you call for “No Monarchy”? Raid the palace and imprison the King. Install a caretaking government and run elections, maybe UN and India can help.

Kalupande,
when there were not many people participating..you followed tulsi giri and labelled the protest as drama..when thousands are pouring on the streets..it is still the drama..tell me honestly…what kind of protest do you really say a protest. I have said you several times..dont speak irrationally..tell me what is yur definition of protest..and why do you think that protest has lost its meaning. Do you intend to say that protest had some meanings before and now lost it charms..But I have never found you in this blog ever saying protest is meaningful..so dont write anything just for the sake of writing..if you write something..please elaborate so that it is readable and well understandable….and before you say, this blog sucks, i want to say that you are not idiot..
Oh No!
“So in reply to all those who said I was a stupid moron”
Oh No! irrespective of the political developments in Nepal you are still a stupid moron.
RSS,I think it was Ganesh Man who said that Not KP.You are trying to confuse others by writing all the trash. Because nobody wants to be PM of the King at this stage. At least I can trust them after such a nation-wide demonstrations. They know the people’s aspirations, otherwise they go to gutter in the history.
the current situtation is
king 0
political parties 0
people the the biggest 0
maoists- winner by knockout.
Last night & this morning news from CNN:
“US ambassador asked to King either you handover power and restore the democracy or you go for exile, I’m keeping stand by position one Apache Helicopter in US embassy from 18th of April. In this circumstances country can’t go forward any more.”
I think this is the strongest statement from US against the King and seems he will go for exile ultimately. If our so called leader didn’t negotiate with him.
Bravo mitra,
kalupande says: he really wants to be the slave of king. But whole of this thing are dramatically changing his aim.
it is just that he cannot be direct. He thinks he got to say something. so he is saying it. therefore don’t worry let him worry for himself.
Jay ganatantra.
Ug from papua, definitely a strong statement…how can I get to the source?? thnx.
replytoall:
This might come as a suprise to you but Maoist are people also.
if King was to start a political party and run for a position, i will definitely think about voting him. he would make a better leader than most of the leaders we have had so far.
Biased media!!!!
“noon 10 rupiya bata 80 rupiya! mattitel 39 bata 90 rupiya..gas 750 bata 1500..5 rupiya maan paune 3ta paaune kagati ahile 15 rupiya ko 1ta… tarkari bajar maan chandai chiana…na gas nai cha..aja noon 80 rupiya tirera pani paunai chodyo…”
I got this from samudaya.org. I guess its correct but media failed to highlight the issue that is pressing the poor folks the most. How long are you going to survive with this? How are those folks who used to earn less than 100 rupees a day, consequently without any saving survive? It might be temporary but it is definitely going to have other impacts in the economy which cannot be undone easily. Financial planning of those poor folks has crashed down.
Can you guys justify a movement in this state? Why can’t we move along with shutters open and vehicles moving again? Is this the only way to do it?
And the sad thing, neither G nor the SPA seem to come down. Both are suffering from ego problem right now.
I expect those folks who just blabber about freedom without looking at the real hardship faced by the lower class folks to come up with rational arguments.
If this were to continue for a while, I am sure people will start breaking into shops and create a state of emergency in Kathmandu. When a man is to choose between staying hungry for a couple of days and breaking into someone’s shop, he might choose the latter.
I hope you guys don’t want it, do you?
If the ‘King’ wants to start a political party and run, I’m all for it. But first he has to be made an ordinary citizen, i.e, law abiding. Then, the army has to be taken out of his control.
Under those conditions, I’m willing to overlook everything he has done so far.
Laters,
It was CNN Sachindra Bindra live cast from Ktm last night in CNN. He also fills a little odd when Bindra was forecasting this news. Finally it’s good news for common Nepalese. Then may be KG started to meet this outdated leaders. I think this is not a solution.
jeewan:
I am interested to hear why you think the King would be any better then the political leaders. Don’t be decieved by his fancy attaire and his aristocratic demeanor. Look at his cabinate – full of crinies with terrible backgrounds. But let’s hear what you have to say.
Hari Sharma:
The difficulty and the toll this movement is taking on the people’s daily lives is indeed regretable. But what else can they do? The King is not budging even now … do you think he will budge with peaceful protests?
I would advise you to look at the big picture -a free and democratic Nepal with everyone living a full life with dignity and human rights. I also feel that the poor people (taxi drivers, small shop keepers etc.) are taking a big hit… but what else do you suggest?
And, if the king votes ffor himself, and you vote for him, he will have 2 votes.
You might not like to hear this but KG , just in Haiti, where President Aristide was removed by the US Marines… Has 3 choices:
Leave in his own hilicopter
Leave in a US hilicopter, or
Die
As much as many of us do not like the 3rd choice, it is real !
bhudai pandit:
the cadres of maoists are definitely human like us… but i cannnot say so about the the people who run the maoist… they are not human..hell no.
the protest still holds a little bit of justification even though i do not support it whatseoever….
but try justifying the price of salt in ktm right now… to your self and to everybody else.
Bhudai Pandit,
if Mr. Gyanendra as such, was not associated to the unpopular monarchy in Nepal and was an ordinary citizen, and runs for a seat in the parliament, i would vote him. he is determined, educated, patriotic and younger than most of our leaders (not all).
But i am not in favour of our rotten monarchy. it stinks.
The protest is moving in the right direction. The only thing that worries me is what if political leaders cut a deal with the King and settle for the opportunity to form new government. I am personally in favor of a republican state. blow away the monarcy.

And our political leaders are not worth debating here. Although I don’t blame them for being what they are because they never got a chance to know what democracy is or how it works. They (we) all took democracy as granted.
D.MICHAEL VANDEVEER mike4radio@yahoo.com, my vote goes to the king, that’s 3 rt there
Seems that people are pretty convinced that king should stand in elections. At least everyone has started believing that monarchy must end and KG should be ordinary citizen. Whatever the count be, there would only be handful of them not even sufficient to save his deposit.
Down with monarchy and shree pach ko sarkar
Up with loktantra and nepal sarkar
By the way, has KG Bhattrai joined the King, like some of those politicians? Heard him say constituent assembly is not needed and that king is a must. What a Pervert Opportunist!! May be he s trying to become PM by kissing KG,s ass.
I think KP Bhattrai is too old and grumpy old man, i think he doesn’t want to stand and be firm w/the king. What a joke, just let him bake his a$$ under the sun
Hari Sharama uncle or ji or whatever
Look sir, nobody is liking this situation…not me too…but this is the pain we have to suffer….u ask the aandolankari for not letting things go well…i am sure and damn sure that if this government or people unitedly asks then for letting in the vehicles for the basic neccessity to run in and out from kathmandu and let some specific shop in every corner of town run…they will allow it…and where has the responsbility of this killer government went…when there used to be maoist blockade they used to show in their media the army doing escorting and so on…why is it not doing it right now….or doesn’t it have any military to do this???..they don’t want to sir…they think that people will rise in lack of foods against the parties…well that’s just their dream….haina bhane khub gufff dinthiyo ni tyo kamal thapa everything will be fine…and tyo ntv they always used to show some vehicles moving in the city and brand that the strike has been unsuccessful but now they are saying only some vehilces are on the street…don’t u understand it a little bit also…why is kg doing all this drama of so called visits…and u said ego problem..well u don’t even seem to have a knowledge about what is ego problem…the parties have clearly at least clearly to the king said give back people’s right….then we can talk while the king is saying the same thing…now who got ego problem….comon sir….why do u think an aandolan is like eating chocolate and watching tv….an aandolan is never a easy thing to do or to control…..that’s why it’s so rare for the likes of aandolan that is happening now….otherwise it would have been day to day job of every politcal party around the world……please just try to see things in a pragmatic way…..then u will understand everything and the usual things that seem so not good…..this happens and while people are not happy…most of us realise this is needed…THIS IS THE CRY OF HISTORY……NO ONE CAN STOP IT….LIKE IT OR HATE IT
Whatever the final result come out this movement, I hoping that those poeple who died in last 2 weeks not dead for nothing.. they watch from above
I am neither supporting the king nor maoists or multiparty democracy. I am only afraid of:
1. Maoists’ terror (in Khmer-Rouge style)
2. Corrupt politicians
If anybody can guarantee me to stop those 2 elements, any political system is acceptable to me.
The King.
By the way is Vandebastard still around? Or has he been deported as well?
Dear kalupande,
Full democracy is only such a system in the world where corrupt politicians can be punished and where the insrrgenicy problem as that of maoist can be dealt. You may ask me , why those problems were prevalant in the democratic days, my reply would be there was no such full democracy ever in nepal. Even under the dictatorship of king, the corruption is still there, we dont know precisely in what scale because of lack of transpirancy..and the maoist problem has more intensified.
there is no other better system like democracy all over the world..i may sound like george bush..but even bush is absolutely correct in this regard
“bad democracy can only be corrected by better democracy not autocracy”
Bravo,
I doubt the corruption under the King after Feb. 1 is or was as bad as before. Do you expect us to believe that media that even go to the extent of fabricating ideas, and talking of “about to happen” scams, would not go to extreme lengths to find out about corruption scandals. Look at all the ministries, the people are protesting there also, do you think these civil servants who were in the pockets of the party leadership would not inform their leaders and thereby the media of any corruption that has taken place?
This govenment has plenty of enemies within the civil service, who would love to puince on them. Kantipur even went so far as to report, “child labour” within Singha Durbar, children serving tea it was. Do you think these children were not there before Feb.1? Why were they no reports on child labour before Feb. 1? When the media find out details like this from inside sources, do you think a corrupt deal would go unnoticed?
Chankhe 2
I think kantipur was unveiling and reporting the corruption issues in the so called democratic days as well, i dont think it was gorkhapatra and rising Nepal who told us Girija and Govida raj joshi were corrupt. I dont say kantipur is not biased, but they are not bringing up the cases against govermenment in thses days only.
regarding your doubt about the corruption after feb 1, I dont know..spending money from the ‘badipidtit kosh’ for the royal expenses is corruption or not..spending 5 lakh by home minister a day is corruption or not..10 lakh each for the decoration of houses of two vice chairmans..squandering the national funds for unneccessry bhramans of africa and other countries…travelling all over the country and felicitating yourselves…Giving gainda upahar to austria when the population of the same species in decline…are corruption or not. if these things are not corruption..then i fear Girija is also not corrupt even govinda raj joshi and khum bhadur khadka…nothing have been proven againast them
Bravo,
All this royal travel etc.is not corruption. How can something officially approved by the cabinet and reported by the govt. be termed corruption. I think you are confusing unnecessary expenditure (as you would think it to be)with corruption. It is just like saying the royal budget is corruption. It may be an expenditure that can be cut down, but how is it corruption?
The difference between expenditure and corruption.
Expenditure is officially approved, corruption is under the table.
Expenditure is accounted for corruption is not.
When Girija took bribes for the Dhamija and airlines scandal, it did not come out in the governments balance sheet, it was under the table. The government just ended up paying extra for the services.
dishonesty and immorality are the literal meaning of corruption ..I dont know how it is defined legally…to me king has been both dishonest and immoral by squandering that much money of the country like Nepal and hence he is corrupt.
Oh Bravo,
Stick your point you who art so moral and honest.
so for you, to avoid being corrupt, you should first make a cabinet decision to approve it and do anything you like.
So why this sahi aayog made one of its allegations agaisnt sher bahadur for making a cabinet decision to give his favourites some dashain kharcha. he also apporved that by cabinet decision.. he did not take that money under table..
Bravo,
Morality and honesty is a subjective issue. Everyone has their limits. But legally as far as expenditure is concerned when there is transparency, we can complain about the “immorality” Of spending but we cant say it is corrupt. Corruption in money terms involves a lack of transparency and accountability.
One might think that spending for small pleasures like ciggarettes is also immoral. Everyone has their own standards. Or that Ministers should ride the bus like everyone else and not their official cars.
The RCCC did it for political reasons and we know they were incorrect on legal grounds. Who’s arguing that issue.
Chankhe,
then i would say allegation of bribe from lauda was also done for the political reasons…on legal ground , it has not been proved either..
and i would like to add that by your definition.. king can never be corrupt, because he can do everything with the approval of his cabinet
Yes, as long as the allegations is not filed in court and a charge has not been put then it’s just allegations. It does not mean that Girija is a clean guy, but the court cannot prove it. However let us look at it in a different light – Girija’s case is alleged corruption, the King’s case is alleged over expenditure. One is allegedly under the table and the other is transparently approved.
