Political assassination are sad events. Bhutto was great leader. No doubt about that. In recent years she had turned into international leader and champion of democracy as well.

It will be interesting to know how maosit reacts, after all they have experience of not only political but commoner assassinations as well.

If we had a leader with Bhutto’s courage and love for our country, the murderous gangster elements that seek power from the gun and bomb (and fear the ballot) would kill them

This is a really saddening event. But since a previous such act had already been committed to kill her already, the concerned persons should have been previously cautious.

The guilty must be brought to justice and democracy be restored in Pakistan.

    I am deeply saddened by the murder of Ms Benazir Bhutto because she was the most popular and charismatic political leader in Pakistan. Is there any leader who we can say very popular and who has done something very special for Nepal? the answer is BIG NO. That is why I am in the meantime very saddened because no one kills our corrupt leaders. Now, the question is who are those leaders and criminals who are the real enemies of Nepal. They are as follows;
    1. Girija Koirala
    2. Sher Bahadur Deuba
    3. Prachande
    4. Baburam Bhattarai
    5. Gyane
    6. all those corrupt leaders
    6. criminal Jwala singh
    7. Criminal Jaya Krishna Goit

The entire Pakistan is mourning the death of Ms Benazir Bhutto. But if anyone of the above mentioned corrupt people are murdered, there will be a big Dipawali in every house in Nepal because these people have given nothing to Nepalese people besides sufferings.
Look at that old vulture Girija Koirala who became the PM of Nepal 5 times, but what has he done for the nepalese People besides making his corrupt daughter Sujata Koirala the MP sidelining all the senoir leaders of NC. He is so corrupt that even the death does not want to accept him. He went to the door of death several times but was rejected everytime.
The current state of instability in Nepal has been caused by the vested interest of these corrupt leaders.

had she not been assasinated i doubt if the rest of the world would have been praising her the way it is right now.

benazir bhutto has had many controversial issues in her time including the incident whereby she sold pakistani military maps to india. i am sorry to say this but in the subcontinent and elsewhere, politics bhaneko estai ho… aafai problem create garne, aafai paisa khaane, ani last ma aafai hero hune. think about it… had she not been shot and bombed into pieces we would be dealing with these very unpleasant karaamats of hers, condemning her bribe khaane baani, and not referring to her as being “a courageous daughter of the world” and what other emotional, patriotic, and dramatically respectful labels.

i do mourn her death. of course everyone else should too. but just because she was a good leader and imperative to pakistans democracy?? how about all the other common people that get very unfairly killed during such terrorist violence?? how about those injured and killed in our country itself?? she is not the only one. this time she was the target and she was a bigshot… she was a major player in pakistani people ko democracy re… okay i agree. but i just feel its really unfair for all the others who get killed for no reason and people just say “kasto dangerous hai aajkal??”

my point here is we should focus on terrorism and its eradication rather than completely putting our minds into giving poetic condolences. politicians themselves fund terrorists, spread aatanka and chuso the public ko blood. politician marda chahi testo hangama hune ani condolence ka condolence paaine… ani euta aam janta marda chahi kasto baal dine??

im just venting out my anger about the unfairness of the system. these are my views. and i dont expect anyone to agree with me. but in my opinion we are simply focussing on the wrong things. kill terrorism.

Very interesting perspective raised there by common sense. I guess some people are important (symbolically and otherwise) than others. Around 130 people were killed in October attack against Bhutto and that didn’t make on front page in many newspapers across the world.

About condemnations and the intensity of mourning: I believe the intensity would have been far more moderate if the lady had died a natural death. The attack and assassination got the worldwide attention because it was perpetrated by THE terrorists who are considered very dangerous and serious threat by THE western world. Of course, every death is painful and untimely death (no one dies in a timely manner actually, even a 92 year old, when dies, is considered untimely death by their loved ones) are particularly so.

But what intrigues me is peoples’ interest in politics and the power. Coming from an elite family background and serving as the Prime Minister twice (with many allegations of corruption) Benazir was affluent and rich. She definitely didn’t need to go to chaotic political rallies in the dusty interiors of poorer Pakistan. But the lust for power is such that even NY mayor and businessman Michael Bloomberg, I hear, is considering spending a billion dollar for the US presidential campaign that many say is he mulling. So it’s very interesting.

I think the Bhutto name is a martriarchal name for all Pakistani’s.

The assasination of opposition leader Benazir Bhutto deals a stunning blow to liberal political forces trying to combat rising Islamic extremism in Pakistan.

Gathering unrest by supporters of Havard- educated Bhutto also risks tipping the volatile country into chaos and puts additional pressure on President Pervez Musharraf as he struggles to keep order and stay in power.

The death of President Pervez Musharraf’s most powerful opponent threw the nation into chaos just 12 days before elections, and threatened its already unsteady role as a key fighter against Islamic terror.

She was a leading conteder to become priminister after the Jan, 8 elections, compaining as an advocate for Pakistan’s return to party politics after eight years of military rule under Mr Musharraf, who relingueshed his military post only this month. She also presented herself as the individual who could best combat growing military in Pakistan.

Some believe democracy can save the world. Other wonder whether it can even work in America. Lately, the process has not looked so good. With an assassination in Pakistan, murder and chaos in Kenya, and Mitt Romney ads in America.

I can’t believe that she was assassinated by a 15-year-old! What a shock! This is a crazy part of the world, and we are going to have to reassess our handling of such situations. I have spoken with several people from the middle east, and they all say that she was assassinated because it would be a major blow to the Americans. What are we doing wrong?
