What’s happening to comrade Prachanda these days? He has started speaking nonsense and behaving like a silly child. First, this fiasco about DDR and SSR. Then his statements on using YCL to provide security in elections. Prachanda should know once and for all that YCL and elections can’t come together in a single sentence. They are different altogether in every aspect. YCL is about intimidation and highhandedness while election is about the biggest democratic exercise ever for Nepal. Madhav Kumar Nepal and Sher Bahadur Deuba have rightly made it clear that deployment of YCL in election is unacceptable. Even the talks about that are unacceptable actually.
Prachanda and his party have already agreed upon the role of UNMIN in the peace process (arms management). The verification process that Prachand is happy to term as ‘the DDR conspiracy of the UNMIN’ was the point agreed by the Maoists in the peace agreement. After the verification comes the SSR. To create bakheda now, at a time when all parties are supposed to focus on elections, is to create obstacles for the CA elections.
Intentional obstacle?
The United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) coming to the press complaining of the unwillingness of the Maoists to discharge the combatants disqualified in the verification process should be considered seriously. It is a clear indication to the political parties, the civil society and the general public that they need to exert pressure on the Maoists to abide by the Agreement on Monitoring the Management of Arms and Armies. After the completion of the verification of the first camp in Ilam, the verification process has been stalled, and the Maoists are alleging that the UNMIN was conspiring to apply the regime of Disarmament, Demobilization and Re-integration (DDR). According to Prachanda, they want Security Sector Reform (SSR) for their combatants. Unfortunately, it seems o be not only the question of DDR or SSR; it looks more like an attempt by the Maoists to create an obstacle to delay the verification process. (more)
If not talks, then force: Meanwhile, we support the recent call made by the home minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula to all conflicting sides in Terai to come to the table for talks. If they don’t come, there is no other way then crushing them all by force. Groups like JTMM-Goit that are raising the voice to separate nation of Terai need to be deal with force because no negotiations can be held on the topic of national integrity.

Open ur eyes people the biggest threat to democratic way of life are the maoist not anyone else. looks like the prachanda is and has always been planning to go back to his old ways. he is a totalitarian. and will not stop untill he has total control. just to say that YCL will give security in the election proves that he is a bully and does not value public opinion at all. or he is completly distached from the wants of the people. maoist have been spreading a lot of propaganda, in the streets on net. and distracting the attention away from them. they have been fairly succesfull. the fact that the people of nepal are living a life full of terror and frustration, and the royal massacre really molded peoples mind on believing that the king is responsible for all the miseries. im really aginst the idea of a person born to rule people. you should earn to rule not born to rule but somehow the idea of a ceremonial monarch has never left me. i cherish the idea of having a king. they are dying breed, and to save our identity and culture its important (so i feel) to have a figure head king who commands only on the religious field. like the king becomes the biggest priest of nepal. but the other fellow countrymen may believe otherwise. but its ok as to really accept the idea of democracy we need to respect others feeling and ideas too. everyone has a right to voice his or her opinion. and election will be the right tool to test this commitment towards democracy and really know what the people of nepal really want. of course the election needs to be fair if not there is no point. and YCL in the polling booth will result in 2 things one the only thing in the mind of people voting will be fear and the second the royalist will make a really big fuss about the election not being fair.

Maoist is showing true color now. Everybody have to understand that they do not want CA as it will reveal their status which is going down everyday.Therefore, Maoist is creatind such a bakheda. but sadly Maoist also knows that SPA is full of impotend and stupid leader and they have inside man in Congress Situal Gulla chus of Maoist at their side. Just want to know who the Hell in the author of this article- If its D. wagle then he should be made to walk the talk. The audacity of wagle to prod Shitowla to use force in Madhes is hara-kiri, do not assume Madhesi will sit quiet. They are now run by foreign forces of which you are slave to (dollar earning or farming) and they have a very distinct and well defined goal. I agree 101% with Sher Bahadur and Madhav Nepal that YCL should never be deployed during the CA election. I urge Girija’s government to come strongly against Prachanda’s wish and should even be punished if he speaks one more time. It is nothing but his conspiracy to win the election when he knows very well that his party CPN-Maoists have a very vague chance of winning the election. The Election Commission should not register CPN-Maoists as a capable party to fight election because as a party CPN-M is still continuing intimidating, looting, confiscating people’s property and threatening journalists in broad daylight. The Government and Election Commission should together press for complete dissolvement of YCL otherwise CPN-M should never be considered as a political party. Prachanda is pouring demands after demands and the government has been able to do nothing against it. This shows Prachanda’s anarchy. What is the use of overthrowing monarchy if we are going to see Prachanda’s anarchy. I thought we were stepping into a new Nepal – a democratic Nepal!

The Maoists are so confident they will win a majority in the CA elections. I don’t know if that is just for show or if these idiots actually believe so. Because if they do, they have a nasty suprise awaiting them. I contend that the Maoists will do rather poorly in the elections. My concern is what then? Will Prachanda accept those results and continue to be a minority in the government. What a slap in his face that would be. I am doubtful he will accept those results. My guess is he will try to continually disrupt the government and cause other mayhem. Is such an event we should be willing and ready to chase these commies back to where they belong – the jungles.
It’s a miracle…Deuba, Makune and Sitaula all saying things that make sense! I’ve had it with the Maoists. They should be given an ultimatum by the SPA- either adhere to the agreement and rule of law or be kicked out of the Govt. and outlawed. I guess they are not at all confident nor they are prepared.It is very clear that without YCL policing the poll booths even Prachanda will get difficulties to get his palce booked in CA. So, it is kind of honest outcry by Prachanda to ask to use YCL to save the nation from another bloody insurgency. Because it is hard to believe that maoists would accept anything but victory in the elections. Remember, they still are using the cars with their own number plates, they are still running kind of parallel govt all over the country. And with the forceful presence in every corner why would they want an election in which they are sure to loose all the pride and prestige?
My point is, Maoists are at the height of everything, the highest achievement a radical left could dream of in present context. They are even taken as model movement by many of their RIM collegues. They enjoy five berth in the govt and still having a private army of theri own accountable to no one. They can still extort money from public and at the same time demand budget from the govt as well. They can travel extravagantly as victors around the world and criticise the national army in international arena and yet when they come back the same army gives security arrangements. They can act like an opposition when it comes to the failures of the govt and can claim it’s part in good decisions( it’s a pity,there is none). They are enjoying all the luxury they have ever dreamt of. Yeah, some cadres are languising in the cantonement, but who cares??
So, it would be a surprise if they let elections happen, they would loose everthing they got from the war that they claim they won (and believe me SPA thinks so too). They would try to prolong interim period as long as possible until the time comes when their YCLs would “succesfully” impliment the slogan “every Maoist Nepali, every Nepali Maoist” into a reality. And believe me it is not impossible at all, the seven party cadres wouldn’t oppose it as they donot have enough guts, they know how to fight within the party or convetions but don’t even dare to stare back to their YCL counterparts. And Nepali populace, Bhedas,as Pundit puts it, will not even bother making any attempt to resist.
So the ideal situation for them is status quo, running two govts side by side at the same time, why would anybody wanna wake up from such a wonderful dream??
Frankly the way things are going theres not going to be elections in Nov. The blame squarely lies in eight parties whose tug of war and game of brinkmanship have forfeited any opportunity to save this country.
If we miss it this time, Nepal will inevitably be a part of India. And if it comes to that, these so called leaders must not be spared.
If not talks, then force – well, we already tried containing the maoists by force instead of addressing the root causes, and we may use the force again to contain terai movement without addressing the underlying issues. Mobilize the force and for sure the terai will become a separate state, if not another Indian state.

Kathmandu/Brussels, 9 July 2007: Violent unrest in Nepal’s Tarai plains could generate a new conflict if weaknesses in the country’s peace process are not addressed.
The latest report from the International Crisis Group, examines the political exclusion of Madhesis, plainspeople, who are some one third of the country’s population. Faced with long-standing discrimination, Madhesis have now turned politically assertive and are demanding equal rights. Recent protests and fatal confrontations shocked the political elite, which had largely ignored disquiet brewing in the region. The national political process must be made more inclusive and responsive, and constituent assembly elections later this year must be free and fair if a new conflict is to be avoided.
“The Tarai, a long-neglected borderland, now occupies the centre of Nepal’s political stage”, says Prashant Jha, Crisis Group’s Nepal Analyst. “The demands for political representation raised by the region’s Madhesi people cut to the heart of the peace deal and constitutional process”.
An increasingly confrontational environment has developed in the Tarai region, which is of prime political and economic importance. There is collapse of trust between Madhesis and the state, frequent clashes between political rivals and an increase in communal tension between hill-origin people and Madhesis. The risks of worsening violence are real, but identity-based demands can be dealt with peacefully through a flexible constitutional framework and a robust electoral competition.
The governing Seven-Party Alliance-Maoist coalition has offered to address issues of electoral representation and affirmative action for marginalised groups but has been reluctant to execute measures that would make for a more inclusive system. Ineffective communication of positive steps that have been taken, such as reform of citizenship laws, has detrimentally added to the volatile mix of unresolved grievances from the Maoist insurgency.
This dim-witted EPA is declaring everything without knowing the side and front effects. The EPA had decided and declared the “secular state”, which means that religion and politics are to be strictly seperated by law in true sense. In the secular state, the state does monitor the exercise of religious worship where the constitution unambiguously prohibits any kind of religious influence on the practice of politics. But this power lust Girija with the suggestion of all eight failures decided to celebrate Bhoto jatra where political presence is clearly seen with all the missionaries of the government. Which means we are still not secular state in true sense and just announced it by thug EPA to fool the people of other religions.
Similarly, these repressive EPA are playing cards with madhesi and other ethnic groups. They had assured many things during Janaandolan-2 to different ethnic groups. They had announced “New Nepal” where each and every ethnic group will get pie in power sharing even at central level. But that slogan just became tool for gimmick. The madhesi started to uprise for their rights to share the power at central level after knowing the clever tricks of EPA leaders. But these cunning EPA leaders instruct to joined hands the unctorlable mass uprising to their activists just to safeguard themselves for future election. Although EPA leaders became successful to curtail the mass uprising by hook and crook of actions and assurances, but they did not realised the future bounce back of that hook and crook mentality. That is the reason why new arms groups are adding day by day in terai belt. The same consequences is going to happen in hilly region also. The uprise of Limbuwan and Khumbuwan and their bandhs of today are the example of it. Similarly, for example If one keep eye on the present central level meeting of UML, the different ethnic groups have clearly noticed that no equal sits are given to them, as also occuring in Congress The maoist also started to follow the same path although they have divided different ethnic groups in their party at lower level. If the ethnic groups will not get equal sharing at central level of EPA then definately they open the regional parties to wipe them out like in terai.

There is no other way but to use the force to crush the different factions that are creating mess in Terai. Only force can create peace and these JTMM, GOIT, M. TIGER, whatever, needs to be tackled with force. They must be wiped out before they go wilder. Girija and Krishna Sitaula won’t do anything. Now is the time for Rukmangud to take the step. Send down the army with guns and yes, don’t forget to include YCL and crush these cockroaches so innocent people of Terai can breathe air of peace and Nepal can see a free and fair CA election.
Yeah, generation will perish if Bhauns use force to quell the mess in Tarai. Whose making, is it anyways? Who instigated it and now who wants to use force from other side. Just as Maoist made their call to arms on petty pretext so will Madhesi who has loads and loads of rightful demands.
So handle with caution- the euphoria of Bahuns will die out by blazing guns if they try to act and be warrior which they are not. So what goes around comes around- simple as that. You can fool once or twice but not all the time.

Unidentified group murders NC-D district leader
Kantipur Report
BARA, July 19 – An unidentified group Wednesday night murdered Nepali Congress-Democratic (NC-D) district leader Buddhiman Tamang in Bara.
NC-D district member Tamang was also the district president of Federation of Indigenous Nationalities Co-ordination Committee.
A post mortem report showed that Tamang was attacked with sharp weapons. No bullet was found during the post mortem.
According to Area Police Office, Nijgadh, Bara, Tamang’s dead body was recovered Wednesday night from Ratanpuri-2.
The murderers have not been identified yet, the police added
“He had a scuffle with some locals recently during a village council meeting,” said Police ASI Manoj Chaube quoting villagers, “Since there was no report filed, we are facing difficulty in investigation.”
The wife of deceased Tamang has not shown any signs of suspicion against anyone nor has any villager come forward to share details, Chaube added.
Meanwhile, NC-D district office Thursday issued a press statement and condemned the killing. The press statement undersigned by NC-D district secretary Medini Dev Kharel has demanded the administration take all possible steps to find the culprits.
Another NC-D leader Bechai Yadav was murdered in Nawalparasi some three weeks ago.
Count on killings in the regime of 8 parties, It will go to lacs and lacs at the end. More early we remove these leaders more the life of the people of Nepal
