Saturday Photo Blog: Once upon a time, there was a boy called Ram Bahadur Bomjon who used to mediate under the Peepal Tree in a jungle in Bara district, in southern Nepal. Bomjon, branded as the Buddha Boy by the media around the world, became centre of attraction within a few weeks: thousands of people started thronging in to the jungle to see him. Many others went there with flowers to worship the newly found God where as few went with cameras and other research equipments. He was disturbed for sure. Apparently tired of all the attention he got, the Buddha Boy suddenly disappeared one March evening and hasn’t been in scene since then. His followers and families wept and mourned the disappearance. Search missions were sent and, latter, called off. But that was then. Now the life is normal as usual. No Buddha Boy but yes life is back. Look at the smiling face of sister (left) and mother of Ram Bahadur Bomjon. In this photo taken a few days back, the happy women are smiling as they move toward their home after the daily agricultural work. Recently, rumors started making rounds. Someone said he saw Buddha Boy in jungle and another confirmed that. But the NEW Buddha Boy of Nepal hasn’t appeared as yet. Pic by Upendra Lamichhane

The whole saga of Buddha Boy was quite unfortunate. That was handled rather badly. We should have left the boy alone. That was the violation of his fundamental right: the right to do anything like meditation. Why disturb by going around there when someone is meditationg? He hadn’t even claimed of getting Buddhatwo.

I agree but its hard to contain public curiosity. It’s like the Paparazzi. If you see how they make the live of movie stars hell you feel sorry for the stars. But at the same time people are so curious about the live of these celebrities they buy the magazines which encourages the Paparazi to continue what they were doing.
And in a country like ours where rumors spread at the speed of light and people get hysterical if it has religious conotations its tough handel it. I think the Buddha Boy just had to take matters into his own hand and dissapear. I heard he has declared that he will be back in 2012.

‘buddha boy’ had nothing accomplished and we gave him the celebrity status. just to be fair, media did what it does best and buddha decided to do(i guess) what he deemed right.
and hey, it worked, didn’t it? With the media coverage and live telecast and what not, buddha boy got some publicity so ppl know what he was up to and now that he has disappeared without a trace he has added some mystery to his identity. i just hope he is safe and able to do what he wants to do.

Though ads do not look good on the site, they are essential to self-sustain the site so that you don’t have to take the money out of your pocket to pay various fees, let alone the cost of your time and effort.
Just a suggestion….
Forget the old Buddha boy! Very soon another one will be created for consumption to undrerdeveloped minds.

Everything points to a living, breathing epiphany which cannot be. Ram is gone because no one understands why he has gone. Here we are. The pillars are in place and the boy can sleep. Shame on you for using your own tongue to explain him away. He is hungry and hurt. Your language is coarse and difficult. Your tongue does not behave. We will take our time and maybe you will never hear from me again. You will most certainly hear from the boy. There! Now I am gone to watch. This is how you must approach the Buddha. He is the lion over the hedge. No greater love can we aspire to know than that which lifts us above the equally rising restriction, barring us from ever seeing the love we hear until we are blinded by our own search and see our failure, clearly on this side of the hedge. We hear our impetus to action again before we can count our bruises.

Hoax or not I believe he inspired a lot of people. Whether he sits there 6 years or 6 hours it is still impressive. He never claimed to be a buddha, that’s what other’s claimed. To move that many people/minds without the use of violence or propaganda really amazes me. All he did was sit there, and in turn inspired thousands, I see nothing wrong with this.
I do believe he is able to control this kinda situation….’coz he’s special…..
