LOCKED Future!

via ekantipur.comWhile his peers tread towards schools with a heavy bag and a pencil in their hands, five-year-old Sandeep Karki tries to recite A B C D inside a cell of the Morang District.

Kantipur daily has a heart-touching story of the son of an inmate, who was reportedly raped by policeman Pradeep Kumar Shah, on their front page of today’s edition.

Sita Karki was charged of the murder of an epileptic porter Kul Bahadur Karki at Katari during their journey from Khotang to Udayapur. Sita claimed she was imprisoned because she couldn’t produce Rs. 4000 bribe for the police as other porters of the group did for their release.

Sita was raped while she was taken out from the jail for treatment. In Siraha Court’s verdict, Shah was found guilty but as he went to appellate court, Sandeep’s birth registration has not been accepted. Due to this, he couldn’t be admitted in SOS Village (School) in Itahari where he could have lived a better life.

  1. There is a school which will help Sandeep. They help many kids like him and it is in Bansbari, Kathmandu. The school only takes poor kids. It is called Shrine Academy (also NAG) their website is http://www.nagnepal.org
    good Luck

  2. THIS IS SHOCKING TERRRIBLY SHOCKING AND I FEEL ASHAMED TO BE A THE RESIDENT OF A COUNTRY WHERE ALL THIS HAPPENS……..DUE TO CORRUPT SYSTEM OF BEAUROCRACY AND CORRUPT BEAUROCRATS…..CORRUPT STAFF OF HIS MAJESTY’S GOVERNMENT…..SHREE PANCH KO SARKAR KA KARMACHARI HARU…….WHO ACT AS IF THEY THEMSELVES ARE SHREE PAANCHI KO SARKAR (I.E. HIS MAJESTY).

ALL NEPALI HUMAN BEINGS LETS NOT PROVE THAT WE ARE INSANE AND LETS PROVE THAT WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS.

NEPAL WILL NEVER EVER PROGRESS UNLESS ALL THE CORRUPT BEAUROCRATS ESPECIALLY GOVERNMENT STAFF AND POLICE PERSONNEL ARE PUNISHED.

PARTIES SHOULD NOT TAKE SUPPORT OF CORRUPT GOVERNMENT STAFF FOR THEIR REVOLUTION. PARTIES SHOULD CLAIM FROM NOW ON THAT THEY WILL PUNISH THESE CORRUPT PEOPLE. NO MATTER WHICHEVER SYSTEM CAME THESE CORRUPT PEOPLE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ENJOYING THE PROTECTION OF POWER……..BLOODY RASCALS SUCKING OUR COUNTRY.

LET US DENOUNCE THE CORRUPT BEAROCRATS AND CORRUPT GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS.
I THINK THE SEVEN PARTY MOVEMENT AS WELL AS THE MAOISTS SHOULD FIRST PUT IT IN THEIR AGENDA THAT THEY WILL PUNISH ALL CORRUPT BEAUROCRATS i.e. CORRUPT STAFF OF HIS MAJESTY’S GOVERNMENT…..SHREE PANCH KO SARKAR KA KARMACHARI HARU…….WHO ACT AS IF THEY THEMSELVES ARE SHREE PAANCHI KO SARKAR (I.E. HIS MAJESTY).

UNLESS THIS HAPPENS NO FORM OF DEMOCRATIC, COMMUNIST OR ANY GOVERNMENT CAN SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF COUNTRY.

LET US RECOGNISE TRUE CULPRITS OF OUR COUNTRY……..THEY ARE NO OTHER THAN CORRUPT STAFF OF HIS MAJESTY’S GOVERNMENT…..AND I MEANT TO SAY CORRUPT ONES …..NOT ALL OF THEM.

  3. A VERY CONCERNED NEPALI:
In order to punish currupt officials you need officials who are NOT currupt and have credibility. I don’t think any such thing exist in Nepal currently.

  4. Corruption control is corrupted. So what would you expect from a king who murdered his own brother for the power in this country…
Throw this king and then progress will start to see some light in the horizon…

  5. Budhai Punditji,
Thats right entire beaurocracy seems to have gone corrupt…..
SHREE PAANCH KO SARKAR KO STAFF (HIS MAJESTY’s GOVERNMENTS STAFF) HAVE BECOME SYNONYMOUS TO CORRUPTION IN NEPAL. I CANT THINK OF A GOVERNMENT OFFICE WHERE CORRUPTION IS NOT RAMPANT.
THERE IS ALSO A RUMOUR THAT ALMOST 30% OF NEPAL POLICE AND NEPAL ARMY STAFF HAVE FAKE CERTIFICATES.

LOK SEWA AYOOG (THE POINT OF ENTRY WHICH RECRUITS GOVERNMENT STAFF) HAVE BEEN TOTALLY CONTROLLED BY CORRUPTION AND MISMANAGEMENT.

  6. The only real and viable way to punish those who are currupt and prevent future curruption is though a democratic government using a transparent judicial system.
Taking that one step back we need a democracy to begin with. So right now as much as I hate our politicans – Deuba, Girija and Madav Nepal there is no other choice but to support them.

And Aalokji just getting rid of the King will not solve Nepal’s problems. Even without an intervening Monarchy from 1990 – 2001 things were not that good so don’t be under the illusion that the King is the only problem.

But the level of curruption is terrible – you can buy a citizen certificate for Rs 5000.

  7. DEAR ‘A VERY CONCERNED NEPALI’

Can you type your comments in lowercase, please? Uppercase (Capitals) letters mean you are shouting at others and you are extremely agitated or you are trying to emphasize on something. Even then, only the emphasized words should be typed capital. This is netiquette, I guess! Sorry, I do not want to offend you, but I am honest.

  8. Dear Mr. Honest,
    Thank you for your comments.

Yes indeed, I am very agitated and cant emphasize it more.

WHAT MORE DOES IT TAKE FOR YOU TO GET MORE AGITATED THAN NEPALI POLICE RAPING GIRLS, AND INNOCENT CHILDREN FORCED TO REMAIN IN PRISON.

Isnt this grave enough? What more do you want? Do you want to wait for GENOCIDES as happen in Rwanda and other African countries till I can write in Uppercase.

I would have appreciated if you had commented on all the obscene words used in comments section, with fck this and fck that everywhere.

OKAY MAYBE YOU WILL FIND IT LESS OFFENSIVE. FCK ALL CORRUPT BEAUROCRATS. ARE YOU SATISFIED NOW??

  9. It is terrible to hear this kind of news being a nepali woman myself. It’s a shame!! Women have no rights whatsoever in Nepal…..it’s always women’s fault no matter what?? That monster policeman raped her and then our society is still blaming her and her kid…it doesn’t make sense……how long does it take for our ultra conservative society to wake up??

  10. Stay on the subject, will you all…this is a problem of you all, and the rest of the Nepaless. The blog you’re doing is based on a story about a child born in the jail cell from alleged rape and that child being denied the freedom and his rights Comment on that not shout the same old Slogan against politician. That’s not news. And just blaming is not the solution for all problems in Nepal. We need actions, not cosy ass comments.

  11. april 26 : i sent one of my young friends to the prison. his report follows …

    “policeman in the jail asked

ok ben this type of question was asked me….

any how if u really want me to see the child
and help him then please send me e-mail as u r from the ptet-nepal.org.

if u want me to see the child send letter say i am some staff of this org .. in nepal…….

then only i can meet him. other wise impossible…i talk to the poliseman with gun for a long time and i was really afraid….
