The first anniversary of the declaration of federal democratic republic of Nepal is being observed throughout the nation on Friday (today). Hundreds of thousands of Nepali people within and abroad the country are celebrating the first republic day. A large number of people thronged the capital to observe a special function organised at Tundikhel in which various cultural programmes and other vibrant displays were organised by the government appointed organising committee.
At the function, President Ram Baran Yadav, Vice President Paramananda Jha, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and Chief Justice Min Bahadur Rayamajhi released pigeons, token of peace, wishing for the successful implementation of the 12-point understanding signed between the Maoist and the seven parties. Likewise, Nepal Army helicopter showered flowers all over the function venue. Security personnel of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force demonstrated march-past and traditional dancers of Kathamndu valley performed various dances and musical shows. Similarly, National Sports Council exhibited its group sports. At the programme, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal appealed to the political parties to forge consensus for drafting a new constitution. The special function was attended by government officials, senior leaders of political parties and diplomats from different countries.
Presidential Congratulations: Meanwhile, President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has congratulated the Nepali people scattered all over the world on the first Republic Day. In his congratulatory message, Yadav said there has just been lip service to consensus but this has not been reflected in action. The President also added that civilian supremacy can be established only when the basics of democracy such as rule of law, press freedom, judicial independence, freedom of expression and human rights are reflected in each activity and behaviour of the government.
Stating that in the past 60 years Nepal has seen a number of constitutions, Yadav hoped that the new constitution would not be just another experiment.

Indian border force drives 1800 Nepalis

DANG, June 1 – Hundreds of people have been displaced as border security force of India,
Seema Surakshya Bal (SSB), reportedly drove them out form various
bordering villages of Dang district along Nepal-India border.
More than 1,800 people are now taking shelter in a community forest of Satbariya-2 in Deukhuri area in the district.
The victims said the SSB personnel encroached the Nepali territory and torched their settlements.
“We were compelled to leave our homes to protect our lives,” said Purna Kumari Bista, 70, of Rajpur VDC-7. She said the Indian side also shifted border pillars some 35 metres inside Nepali land.
The villagers of various 22 bordering villages of Rajpur, Bela and Koilabas VDCs in the district were displaced by the SSB. The displaced have also accused the SSB personnel of raping their women and pillaging their villages every now and then. The enraged victims blamed the government for not providing security despite the repeated excesses from the Indian side.

Sujata Koirala involve in human trafficking:-
Sujata Koirala, a central committee member and daughter of Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, boasts herself as a genus social worker, who was once allegedly involved in Dhameja and Lauda airlines scandal is now associated with human trafficking business.
Accused as a main leader of red sandalwood dirt, Koirala is now working with her private secretary Hari Dhungana in human trafficking business, taking mounting amount of commission from unemployed youth, reports said.
According to victims, Koirala grasp up two lakh from Dhungana as a part of commission through each person after luring them to send various abroad destinations: Australia, Japan, America, and Canada for attractive job.
Asking Dhungana “Send us to abroad or return our money quick”, victim youths are chattering regularly in the residence of Koirala at Mandhiktar, a vernacular Dristee reported.
But Dhungana, in support of Koirala has warned them to take prison bragging of police administration.
“Dream to go abroad and earn money vaporized simultaneously”, in one side victims are lamenting such remarks, and in another hand Dhunghana is now in a fearful state following the frequent threat by those irate youths asking ready to face for physical action any time owing to Sujata.
Koirala had succeeded to grasp nearly fifteen million rupees from him, said Dhungana adding that he is passing semi-underground life as of fear from both sides Sujata and victims, to whom Dhungana had showed fake account cheating them many times.
The vernacular further writes that it has kept the fake account no. 40035549 of Nepal Bank as record through which Dhungana had tried to cheat fifty thousand rupees of Ramesh Shrestha from Pokhara.
Shrestha has not got that amount as yet, the weekly added.

I am from year 2035. The Government of Nepal has sent me to past, your present, year 2009 on a important government mission. Just last year, year 2034, the government of Nepal hanged Prachanda. President Gagan Thapa though has pardoned Dr Bhattarai.
I will be staying here until end of year 2009, and I will again go back to your future (or my present) year 2035.
Politics in year 2035 is very different than what you have here now. I still remember this year when I was just 9 years old. Next year, people will assasinate Badal, but Prachanda and Baburam will escape the assasination attempt. Monarchy will be reinstated in year 2012. Kamal thapa will be rule until year 2015. There will be another popular uprising in year 2015. Kamal Thapa will resign, Gyanendra will be hanged.
Girija Koirala will die in December 2009.
I am not allowed to discuss everything now, because this may contradict the mission of our present government.

Maoists assault trader

KATHMANDU, June 17 – Members of a Maoist trade union beat up Jagdish Maskey, the owner of Gemini Departmental Store, at Bouddha on Tuesday afternoon. Over a dozen cadres led by Ramesh Babu Panta, chairman of All Nepal Hotel and Restaurant Workers´ Union, a trade union affiliated to UCPN (M), attacked Maskey.
According to Maskey, the Maoist unionists also beat up his elder brother and his sister-in-law. His brother has been hospitalised for treatment.
Panta and other cadres attacked them after Maskey sought clarification from some of his employees who were absent for months without reporting and therefore, declined to pay them.
According to him, the workers had demanded full payment for the period that they were absent for.
The police at Bouddha said Maskey sustained a minor injury on his forehead while his brother was bleeding from his nose. The cadres reportedly physically assaulted Maskey’s sister-in-law as well.
The police said they did not arrest anyone involved in the brawl as both the sides had called a meeting on Thursday and resolve the matter through a dialogue.
Panta and others had attacked Himalmedia journalists and vandalised their office last year.
