Human Rights and Peace Society of Nepal organized a program in Jorpati, Kathmandu as part of the organization’s nationwide campaign for democratic republic. In 2006’s April Revolution that began today (or tomorrow by Nepali date), Jorpati had seen some of the intense demonstrations against the despotic royalist regime.

Human Rights and Peace Society of Nepal organized a program in Jorpati, Kathmandu as part of the organization’s nationwide campaign for democratic republic. In 2006’s April Revolution that began today (or tomorrow by Nepali date), Jorpati had seen some of the intense demonstrations against the despotic royalist regime. The program was attended by around a thousand people and pro-republic and anti-monarchy singers and poets performed. A few lectures, primarily by prominent human rights activist Krishna Pahadi, were delivered. Speakers cautioned both the Maoist and Seven Party Alliance to be careful in the days ahead and not indulge in corruption. They also stressed on the fact that the government must focus itself in holding the election of constituent assembly and head country towards democratic republic.
Far western folk singer Nanda Krishan Joshi, in his trademark Jhyamma Jhyamma tune, threw quite a few sharp arrows against Gyanendra, the monarch waiting to be ousted by the people. Participants cheered up with musical clapping. Pro-democratic republic poet Arjun Parajuli came up with his evergreen poems that, if they were bullets, would surely kill the intended person: the “idol thief” and his notorious crown prince son Paras the killer of singer Praveen Gurung. Journalist Purushottam Dahal, Chairman of the Society, said that the campaign for democratic republic wouldn’t stop just because some people claiming to be the supporters of monarchy in Nepal put bombs in the Society’s founding president Krishna Pahadi. “Human Rights is always related to politics,” he said. “That is why we are talking about what kind of political system we should have in Nepal. We don’t want a republic like in North Korea or in Iran. We want democratic republic.”

“A team led by Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Ram Chandra Poudel visited the 2nd divisional cantonment of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in Dudhauli, Sindhuli district, on Thursday and assessed the immediate needs in the camp.
After the inspection, Poudel, who is also the acting Prime Minister, assured that the government would allocate necessary amount of budget to upgrade the physical conditions of the PLA camps, along with other basic facilities.
Minister for Physical Planning and Works Hisila Yami, Maoist deputy commander and MP Janardan Sharma ‘Prabhakar’ and secretary at the Finance Ministry Bidhyadhar Mallik were also in the inspection team.
The visit came amidst growing complaints by the PLA commanders that the camps lacked facilities like drinking water, electricity and medicines. The United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) had also pointed out the lack of facilities in the camps.
Earlier, PLA combatants had left their camps to work on daily wages saying they could not manage proper living with the budget provided by the government.
There are nearly 32,000 combatants living in seven divisional cantonments across the country.”
Nepal is gone, we are going down. Now we have an army of thugs and goons to feed. I mean how is the country going to sustain this ? Where is the money to feed these useless people who are doing nothing except terrorizing people going to come from?
Maoist Minister of planning and resource is going to drain and suck the country again to feed these looters and murders. This is just ridiculous….

11- Ban on women talking or shaking hands with non-maoist males.
12- Ban on women laughing loudly. (No stranger should hear a woman’s voice).
13- Ban on women wearing high heel shoes, which would produce sound while walking. Only cloth and rubber boots as worn by other Maoist women cadres.
14- Ban on women riding in a taxi without a maoist cadre.
15- Ban on women’s presence in radio, television or public gatherings of any kind except for propaganda organized by the CPM (Maoist)
16- Ban on women playing sports or entering a sport center or club, except rifle shooting.
17- Ban on women riding bicycles or motorcycles, except for those who are part of the YCL and militia.
18- Ban on women’s wearing brightly colored clothes. Only in Army uniform, and males to dress like Mahara. NO nepali daural suruwal will be allowed as No Maoist cadres has ever worn them. The daura suruwal attracts Royalists.
19- Ban on women gathering for festive occasions such as the Teej, Dashain, and especially the Chaath celebrated in Madhesh.
20- Ban on women washing clothes next to rivers or in a public place.
21- Modification of all place names including the word “women.” For example, “women’s garden” has been renamed “spring garden”.
22- Ban on women appearing on the balconies of their apartments or houses.
23- Compulsory painting of all windows, so women can not be seen from outside their homes.
Do Nepali people really care if there is Communism, republic or Royal institution? I believe no one really care about that all they care is about peace, and want to leave in society where they have right to do what they want, not live in fear. Don’t have fear of being killed and being looted. What they want is clear vision for future Nepal. Not a bull Shit talk.. such as making Nepal Switzerland or promise that political party can’t keep. No more corruption and free and fair environment.
