Indian Fundamentalists Demand Nepal be Declared a Hindu State

The Hindu fundamentalists of India have demanded that Nepal be declare a Hindu State and its constitutional monarchy restored. Speaking at the Vishwa Hindu Mahasammelan (VHM) in Gorakhapur, India on Saturday (Dec 23), the Dharmacharyas (religious leaders) called for declaration of Nepal as Hindu state and restoration of monarchy there, according to the reports by The Hindustan Times. Here is more from HT by Rajesh Kumar Singh:

Criticising the declaration of Nepal as a secular country by seven-party interim government, Adityanath said that it should again be declared as a Hindu country and monarchy should be restored there. He called upon the saints to take an initiative for the liberation of Nepal from the clutches of Maoists. He said that the [Indian] government should impose a total ban on cow slaughter.

Hindutva remained at the top of the agenda as the participants discussed various issues related to the Hindu community. Over 500 delegates from Nepal participated in todayโ€™s meeting. They expressed concern over Maoists strengthening their hold over Nepal politics. Terming the new government as anti Hindu, they said Nepal was and would remain a Hindu country.

National president of VHM General Bharat Keshar Singh, chief of Nepal Shiv Sena Arun Subedi, former minister of Nepal Bhola Nath Jha, Swami Prapannacharya and former MP Padm Bahadur Kota also spoke on the occasion. They were unanimous in saying that anti-Hindu activities had escalated in Nepal since Maoists had tightened their grip on power. ISI and Christian missionaries have also spread their tentacles, they pointed out and added that the Hindu majority in Nepal was looking towards India for assistance.

Adityanath said Hindu organisations in India would organise yatras, congregations and joint feasts with Hindus in Nepal for restoration of the Himalayan kingdom as a Hindu country.

Hey you Indian fundamentalists, you declare your country a Hindu state. Why you are eying on Nepal? Will pluck your eyes if you dare to create any misfortune in this country, got it?

These morons are trying to export their hate politics and religious games in Nepal. We must be careful with these Hindu incarnations of Osama bin Laden in India. We must defend secularism and religious harmony in Nepal.

Whether it is Hinduism or any other religion, Nepal has always had religious harmony in Nepal. Indian fundamentalists should stay away from Nepal. First you quarantined the army, second you seclude the king and now you want to play that vulgar game of religion politics. It does not hold good for us – play it in India where the ground is just about fertile for such cheap politics.
India should stay out of Nepal. Dont put your finger in fire !!

I shall just take one point of that Mr Adhi-nath from his talks, that is regardingcow slaughter, let him tell that how many states are there where there is actually a ban on cow slaughter in India, you get beef everywhere, in cities there are big markets where beef is sold, the fool knows thet he is talking nonsense, only in few places there is actual ban , but in most places you get the stuff. And even Hindoos eat beef in many places, they like it, perhaps Mr Adhi-nath should try it. There is ban in paper in many states but in towns and cities of the states the corporations, muncipalities provide facilities for slaughter houses, water supply, selling shops, etc. So these idiots, they just talk, can do nothing, there would be blood bath, simple in many places if they try to enforce the ban..

Any political party with any religious tones should be banned in Nepal. Let’s leave religion out of politics.

Here is my response in opposition to the fundamentalist authorities of VHM who have gathered in Gorakhpur, UP Inida to initiate Hindu kingdom in Nepal. Instead amending the Hindu religous practice as per its founders have set (which is in its exploration is very modern), they are going backward to the dark ages. Here’s my article in opposition to their fundamental practice of Hinduism.
    ———————————————————–

Nepal is not a Hindusโ€™ Land for Hinduism to claim its crown

    What is Hinduism?

Foremost of all, the contemporary Hindu religion, which has solely become the faith oriented religious practice, has very little to do with the practice of Vedic schools of thoughts โ€“ Samkhya, Nyaya, Vaisheshika, Yoga, Mimansa, and Vedanta. The fundamental objective of the Vedic schools of thought is to liberate human from self-ignorance by arriving to valid knowledge with deliberate intellectual exercise.

Samkhya the oldest of all Vedic school explores the reality composed of energy and matter, and the liberation is the release of the energy from the matter.
Nyaya as pure school of logic advocates the methodology of knowledge to be derived as valid through perception, inference, comparison and testimony.

Vaisheshika promulgates all objects in the physical universe are reducible to atoms (Annu and Pramanu), and God (Brahman) is regarded as the fundamental force that causes consciousness in these atoms.

Yoga essentially differentiates the state of Supreme โ€˜the self-lessโ€™ consciousness from the personal โ€˜self or egoโ€™ as conditioned human consciousness that might be emotional, duty-bond, intuitive, intellectual and so forth.

Mimansa in the beginning advocates supremacy of rituals and rites (Mantras and Yajnas) of Vedas to sustain the activity of the universe (above all these schools of thought and Vedic wisdoms) to give the Vedas the authority. Later it prescribed the wisdom of Vedas (Upanishads) for salvation with the authority of Vedas.

Vedanta purely explores the wisdom of Veda (Upanishadas). Vedanta consists of Vedic cosmology, hymns and philosophies. Vedanta insists on the self-consciousness as continuous and indistinguishable movement of consciousness of God (Brahman).

No matter how old the contemporary Hindus think of these Vedic schools of thought but studies show that most of them evolved between 4th to 2nd century B.C.E. (Before the common era). Among these schools Mimansa that advocates Vedic rituals and rites has greater influence in contemporary Hindu family life, ceremony and the law than other schools that promote wisdom and philosophy.

The devastating consequence of this school on humanity is the caste system that sprung from Vedic spiritual attribution โ€˜varnaโ€™ as hereditary system of social stratification. No rationalist or humanist can justify the place of untouchable โ€˜sudrasโ€™ in Hindu caste system. Unfortunately the untouchable conditions of Dallits โ€˜sudrasโ€™ are still prevalent in Hindu hereditary system of social stratification. It is shame on those Hindu religious leaders who see the flaw in their social stratification system against humanity yet do nothing about it. Those leaders who sustain caste system have committed human rights violations in Hindu society.

    Nepal and Nepali People:

Nepal and Nepali people have been the victim of the caste system for last two hundred and fifty years under the reign of the Hindu monarchy. Vedic rituals and rites were restricted to be practiced by the untouchable. Only the members of the upper caste were allowed to practice Vedic rituals and rites. What kind of Hinduism was given to people to practice? Obviously not enlightening, but superstitious, animal sacrifice, idol worshipping – the grossest of all.

What was Nepal before the reign of Hindu monarchy? It was the cushion for Buddhist scholars from China, Tibet and India. It was the birthplace of Buddha who discarded the varna-jatti of Veda for social stratification. It was the kingdom of Licchivi and Malla dynasties whose rulers were dedicated to teachings of Buddha.

Nepal is a country of multi-culture, multi-ethnic, and multi-religion. The ethnicity is her inherent existence. Nepal, therefore, cannot afford a reign whose rule is based on one religion, one language however democratic. Nepal and Nepali people have had carried that burden for so long and now are unwilling to carry that any longer.

The aspiration of Nepali people is for Secular Republic State and we have already laid the cornerstone of it. Now we are committed to build it with restructuring nation by abolishing all Hindu Feudal Oligarchic establishments.

    In opposition to the VHM:

Nepali people have demonstrated with the historic mandate of peopleโ€™s movement II to institutionalize the (humanistic) democratic value that separates state affairs from the interference of religion. This is a very significant achievement of people of Nepal to secure their nationโ€™s sovereignty in them.

No religion has right to interfere the affairs of the secular state unless they have power to crusade the war against it. The contemporary Hindu leadersโ€™ desire for political power is against the principle of their religion. With their lack of religious integrity if they are serious to crusade against the will of the people of Nepal then people can demonstrate their strength to wipe out such elements from the land of Nepal.

Thus we do not care the Hindu religious leaders (Dharmacharyas) declaring of Nepal as Hindu state and restoration of monarchy in Gorakhpur, Inida at Vishwa Hindu Mahasammelan (VHM). However they must understand and respect that Nepal is not their land for taking their initiative to establish Hinduism in Nepal. They must as well confess the reality that no saints can control the religious and political system in Nepal. It is far above of their all mighty religious power.

Secondly these (fundamentalists) leaders must bear in mind that a Non-Hindu ceremonial monarchy under multiparty federal democratic system might be viable to thirty percent. But the Hindu monarchy under the Hindu nation is beyond their dream and it boils down to zero percent.

The fundamental of the peopleโ€™s movement II is to dissolve the entire establishment of the feudal oligarchic monarchy of a Hindu state and restructure Nepal with the Federal Republic Electoral system of Democracy to fully institutionalize a secular state. The time cannot run back to the dark ages for Nepal while it has arrived in twenty-first century. This message must convey the truth of the matter to the VHM religious fundamentalists that their concern is only emotional and they are devoid of rational meditation.

The fact target ‘Indian Fundamentalism’ is percieved as such an evil danger while the actual brutal massacres, kidnappings, blackmail and direct worship and glorification of mass murderers Stalin and Mao is accpeted, is revealing in itself. It means that either your intellignce hasbeen deluded so you see killers as noble and people demanding attatchment to their ancient traditions as horrific. The othe rthing it means is that you are outright puppets and stooges of the Corporate Elites who recognize traditional power structures as the greatest threat to their agenda. Evil men like Prachanda are on the take and he is at the forefront of the Khmer rouging of Nepal. Your ignorance is revealed when you label legitimate Nepali demands as foreign ‘Indian’ based issues. By your comments and the title of the article you display your ignorance in big bold letters. Why is there no concern that the same methodologies used in the conquest and genocide the American Indians are now being duplicate din India and Nepal? I say its because you have all been intentionally mal-educated into believing the TWO UGLY SISTERS of Western Imperialism, CAPATALISM AND COMMUNISM are the asnwer to your legitimate concerns.

Westerners like Neil Horning congratulate you on your ignorance. By enforcing the Western paradigm on indigenous cultures one commits cultural genocide. Simply because western and islamic religion falls short and has a horrific track record, the indigenous world is being divorced from its roots. Separation of church and state in the western context has been beneficial. Yet when one applies this same rule to indigenous societies, it becomes a tool in the hands of outside forces used to discredit the natural leaders of the native community. It is not theory but fact. North and South America are clear examples of what will happen to both India and Nepal if they simply become juniour members in the Christian-Islamic-Corporate-Communist Empires. Nepal and India are both ancient civilizations that survived remarbly well because its people maintained an overall balanced approach to life. It is becasue of India’s cow protection that to this day 80% of India remains self sufficient and independent. Wetsrners like Neil will say they are dirt poor and deprived. I say many Westerners are filthy rich and complelty deprived of any dignity. If the power goes off for a couple days they are finished. So dont fall for the conspiracy that is being foisted on Nepal. Both Nepal; and Kashmir have been targetted as zones to be controlled by the UN in order to maintain powerful military forces. These forces can and will be used to keep India, China, Pakistan, and any Nepalis that refused to cooparate etc in containment.
China was intentionally developed as a Communist power in order to displace any native indigenous power structures. Once this was achieved, China was slowly groomed to become the world’s largest base of Corporate Capitalist operations. As we speak China now produces over 50% of all the world’s consumer goods. Some will say it just happened naturally. Either way the end is the same. For many people, hedonistic capitalism is a better fit for Nepal than Nepal’s own indigenous culture. They speak form their greed and not from their need.

Hindu organisations in India would organise yatras, congregations and joint feasts with Hindus in Nepal for restoration of the Himalayan kingdom as a Hindu country. –
Maoist have and will organize murders, kidanappings, lootings, massacres and lock people out of their own homes and shut the country down whenver they dont get what they want. WOW, WHAT CITIZEN IN ANY COUNTRY GETS TO SHUT DOWN THE COUNTRY, WHEN THEY DONT AGREE WITH GOVT APPOINTMENTS?! TALK ABOUT SELSFISHNESS.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE THAT BRIGHT TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EVIL AND GOOD. Many obviously think the Maoist have a more positive agenda depsite not wishing maoist treatment on themselves.

    Dear VRN,
The maoists have done something good to the masses so they have support. The hindu orgs can do anything but those things would be meaningless, or their activities would result in blood shed. People would die, the majority of the peoples are fed up with the nonsense you are advocating and the nuisance caused and created by the hindu clergy, they want liberation, emancipation from the sufferings under the barbaric systems of Brahmanism. so do burn butter that contains animal fats, feed the brahmins and other things. The thing is people want change. They don’t want to be slave any more. It would be good for the country and everybody if the Hindu orgs don’t interfere in the matters affecting the country.

    Prakash Bom,

Do not pretend to be an expert in what you know nothing about.

“Samkhya the oldest of all Vedic school explores the reality composed of energy and matter, and the liberation is the release of the energy from the matter.
Nyaya as pure school of logic advocates the methodology of knowledge to be derived as valid through perception, inference, comparison and testimony.”

The Samkhya does not say reality is composed of energy and matter – it says it is composed of Prakriti and Chaitanya. Prakriti is a word that implies both energy and matter whereas Chaitanya is simply Conciousness free from all objects. Also, Samkhya does not accept comparison as a means of knowledge – only the Mimamsa does that.

Saying that Samkhya is the oldest school is very misleading. It might be the oldest of the schools that formally formed, but a cursory glance of Sruti clearly shows that Samkhya is deviating from the siddhanta of the Vedas and Upanishads in so much as it is radically dualistic and does not believe in Brahman.

“Yoga essentially differentiates the state of Supreme โ€˜the self-lessโ€™ consciousness from the personal โ€˜self or egoโ€™ as conditioned human consciousness that might be emotional, duty-bond, intuitive, intellectual and so forth.”

Yoga darshana is philosophically practically identical to Samkhya and holds the same goal – the complete separation of conciousness which is completely different in nature from prakriti (matter, energy).

“Mimansa in the beginning advocates supremacy of rituals and rites (Mantras and Yajnas) of Vedas to sustain the activity of the universe (above all these schools of thought and Vedic wisdoms) to give the Vedas the authority. Later it prescribed the wisdom of Vedas (Upanishads) for salvation with the authority of Vedas.”

There is purva-mimamsa and uttara-mimamsa. The purva-mimamsa does not just deal with rituals but it deals also with values. It is held that through rituals, combined with correct values, one purifies the mind and then is ready for uttara-mimamsa.

“Vedanta purely explores the wisdom of Veda (Upanishadas). Vedanta consists of Vedic cosmology, hymns and philosophies. Vedanta insists on the self-consciousness as continuous and indistinguishable movement of consciousness of God (Brahman).”

    This is very confused.

“No matter how old the contemporary Hindus think of these Vedic schools of thought but studies show that most of them evolved between 4th to 2nd century B.C.E.”

Actually since appropriate Kapila is much mentioned cited in the Pali canon, even Western scholars agree that the Samkhya is pre-Buddhistic. Likewise, there are very few contemporary Indologists who disagree that the Chhandogya and Brhadaranyaka teach some kind of non-dualism. Both these texts are agreed to be pre-Buddhistic also.

Also, the early Upanishads actually use the term Mimamsa as a branch of Vedic learning.

“Among these schools Mimansa that advocates Vedic rituals and rites has greater influence in contemporary Hindu family life, ceremony and the law than other schools that promote wisdom and philosophy.”

The Mimamsa also promotes wisdom and philosophy – there is no good reason why rituals are opposed to wisdom. Even the Buddha encouraged people to worship their local deities (see Mahaparinibbana Sutta for instance) and to maintain their existing traditions with intelligence. He was opposed to some practices – for instance reciting texts without knowing their meaning.

” It is shame on those Hindu religious leaders who see the flaw in their social stratification system against humanity yet do nothing about it. Those leaders who sustain caste system have committed human rights violations in Hindu society.”

Actually the VHP, RSS and other Hindu fundamentalist groups have been opposed to both caste and untouchability from the very beginning. They give upanayanam to Dalits as well and have always and publically encouraged intercaste marriage. They have also come under attack from traditional circles for ordaining Dalit priests. You should check out what the VHP says and always has said about this. Its really not hard to find out. Unfortunately, in this day and age people are more concerned about shouting whatever is fashionable rather than looking at facts – even when they are obvious ones.

“The aspiration of Nepali people is for Secular Republic State and we have already laid the cornerstone of it.”

Whatever you may say about secularism, it was not done through a referendum so citing “people’s aspiration” is just like Pol Pot saying he is act according to “people’s will.” If the parliament did something you didn’t like you would call it undemocratic, feudal, etc… When the parliament does something you like, its “people’s aspiration.” Its absurd that “progressive” people like you are so good at supporting double-standards in this country.

“What was Nepal before the reign of Hindu monarchy? It was the cushion for Buddhist scholars from China, Tibet and India. It was the birthplace of Buddha who discarded the varna-jatti of Veda for social stratification. It was the kingdom of Licchivi and Malla dynasties whose rulers were dedicated to teachings of Buddha.”

Nearly all the Licchavi and Malla Kings were primarily Hindu – this is well established fact historically. As for varna-jati, the first person to popularize the Manusmriti in Nepal was Jayastithi Malla – under the advice of Maithili Brahmins (imagine that, a Newar advised by Madhesis introducing the orthodox reforms in Nepal rather than evil Pahadis!) The Mallas had a more orthodox caste code than anything in Gorkhali territory until Rama Shah.

In any case, I agree we must work together for a peaceful country which respects and protects all the ethnic groups and traditions. But this is problematic when a “declaration” by some fringe Hindu groups (whoose agenda consists of yatra and feasts) attracts more condemnation in a “progressive” and “liberal” blog like this than when an 18-year old in the head for being in a bus and for being born in the wrong family. Why would anyone feel bad for an oppresor being killed by rebels fighting for freedom, right?

    Rishi Maharajau,

You also trying to be expert in this matter missed the main points of Vedic religious life objecetive which Mr. Bom has worded in these lines:

“The fundamental objective of the Vedic schools of thought is to liberate human from self-ignorance by arriving to valid knowledge with deliberate intellectual exercise.”

Therefore in his message he conveyed this: “This message must convey the truth of the matter to the VHM religious fundamentalists that their concern is only emotional and they are devoid of rational meditation. ”

In my understanding true ‘Hinduism’ or vedic schools of thought is Atheism meaning liberating humans from superstitions, fear, and unreal promise to the heaven and so on.

So, Mr expert Rishi could you then say the contemprary Hindus are illiterate of Vedic School fo thought.

Also you avoided the Vaisheshika which is very close to Quantum Physics.

    Anti-India axis in Nepal

    Sandhya Jain

Nepal Prime Minister GP Koirala must be ruing the day he allowed his Seven-Party Alliance to be conned into negotiating with Maoist leader Prachanda. Mr Koirala has given respectability to a bunch of armed thugs, agreeing to bring them into an interim regime and allowing them to dictate an interim Constitution along with the timetable for the election of a new Constituent Assembly to decide the monarchy’s future. Unease over the implications of such fundamental changes in the Nepalese civilisational template are now spreading, as evidenced in the rise of pro-monarchy sentiment.

The suspicions are not misplaced. The December 18 wildcat strike in which Maoists unleashed six hours of terrible violence in Kathmandu to protest against the appointment of envoys to 14 countries, indicates that Prachanda intends to dominate the Himalayan kingdom through the barrel of the gun. Any doubts on this score were settled three days later when 5,000 armed rebels walked out of their camps in Ilam and Morang districts in a show of strength that rattled the aged SPA leaders, who have realised that the forces that instigated them to unseat King Gyanendra have used them like a railway service to reach another station.

Those forces want the political dominance of Prachanda through the ‘good offices’ of an obliging United Nations, which helped the US break up Indonesia and create Christian East Timor. Their success is likely because of Ms Sonia Gandhi’s total commitment to the intrinsically anti-Hindu Western agenda. Thus, a civilisationally Hindu India has abandoned a civilisationally Hindu Nepal, because a White Christian dominates an effete Indian Government and wants to help a covert Christian illicitly ascend the throne of Nepal.

Like India today, Nepal tomorrow will have a ruler who does not share the dharma of the people and does not respect their traditions and culture. Unlike Ms Gandhi, Prachanda is an ethnic Nepalese, but his ascension puts Nepalese civilisation in peril. The Bharatiya Janata Party, which has finally got its national agenda together under the promising leadership of Mr Rajnath Singh, would do well not to neglect developments in our neighbourhood. Prachanda is pressurising Mr Koirala to implement the interim Constitution in just 10 days, dissolve the SPA and form an interim Government with Maoist participation, failing which he will unleash mayhem in the Himalayan nation.

Under the November 21 peace accord, Maoists agreed to confine their cadres to 28 camps and lock up their arms under UN supervision. But the sudden violence of the past few days prevented a UN-Maoist joint monitoring team from beginning inspections, and now reports of extortion and intimidation are pouring in from all over the country. The most bizarre aspect of the truce is the SPA’s agreeing to let UN monitor the arms of both the Maoists and the Nepal Army, putting the nation’s legitimate security force on equal footing with a gangster mob. There is no justice in the demand to confine the Nepal Army to barracks, and obviously a dubious foreign hand is behind this mischief, which will deny Nepalese village folk the sense of security needed to vote freely in the elections.

Elimination of the Nepal Army from the national scene will give the Western-dominated UN a free hand to do as it pleases in the polls, a situation New Delhi must resist. India’s Election Commission will not be able to ensure free and fair elections there unless the Nepal Army or the Indian Army keeps Maoist arms and cadre under lock and key; by current estimates Maoists can win just about 10 out of 205 seats in a fair election. The UN must either be kept out or its mission manned exclusively by adherents of non-monotheistic faiths. As the main Opposition party, the BJP must speak up for the civilisational integrity of Nepal and resist Ms Gandhi’s subversion of our traditional foreign policy.

Given the steep rise in conversion activity in India since Ms Gandhi’s ascent, the BJP would do well to scrutinise missionary activism among the capital’s Nepalese population as well. According to reliable sources, Maoists in New Delhi have close links with Christian groups. In Baljit Nagar, Moti Bagh and Mehrauli areas, secret churches have been established in houses occupied by Maoists. One church, with a banner proclaiming ‘World Unification Movement’, was visited by an unidentified White man who spoke about the political situation in Nepal.

Sources suggest the gentleman could be from the US-based Republication International Movement (RIM), which is active in Asia. This seems likely because a Meerut school, Thomas Child Academy, which is caring for the orphan children of Nepalese Maoist cadre, is known to display the RIM flag on occasions. Nearly 100 Nepalis have been provided employment in Indian churches and are luring fellow Nepalis to the congregations every Sunday, where the Maoist newspapers, Dishabodh and Dishanidesh, are distributed free.

A Nepali attending a meeting was shocked to see the pujari of the Nepali mandir in Baljit Nagar, Mr Puran Sharma, who is close to the Maoists, leading Christian prayers in Moti Nagar! This kind of subterfuge permeates the movement. While second-in-command Baburam Bhattarai and his family are openly Christian, Prachanda does not proclaim his religious affiliations but his wife’s entire family is Christian. His guru, Chandra Pradesh Gajurel, was a Christian preacher. Sources estimate that the 42,000-strong Maoist army would be 30 per cent Christian, but the cadre are kept in the dark that the top leadership is predominantly Christian.

Nepal’s temporary Constitution recognises all religions, but Hindus are apprehensive about the changes desired by the rebels. A US-based organisation, Global Recordings, has intensified its conversion activities and is propagating the Gospel in all tribal dialects. Nepalis ask that if the Maoists are not Christian, why would they attack and close down all Sanskrit pathshalas (only a couple survive) and stop compulsory Sanskrit education in school? There is harassment at Hindu festivals and Brahmins have been forced to eat beef; who would kill the cow in a Hindu kingdom? Then there was the attempt to make the rhinoceros the state animal, instead of the holy cow. Unnerved, religious groups want Nepal to be declared a Hindu state again, and to retain the Hindu King, a demand India should heartily support in its own interests.

Grasping at the white man’s ‘gifts’ these socalled ‘progressive’ natives were the gateways to the genocide of the American Native. And they call them ‘secular progressives’ today as well. Nepal’s secularilty can only be maintained by Nepal’s INDIGENOUS VEDIC BASED CULTURE. Im not sitting here at home on my computer using my God given free time to share my opinions in order to cinvince you of anything. Im here to make sure that soemwhere in the media the Hindu Vedic perspective is available to anyone who is interested. And when a punk like you tries to tell me that I, as a Hindu cant say a word about the end of the last Hindu country in the world, You are proving that to you freedom and liberty mean something very warped indeed. So if I were you Id shut up and gloat over the end of the Hindu Kingdom and have at least of hint of honor and nobility to allow human beings suffering a loss their due.

This is my last post to Ironic….wimp cant even use a real name.

WAVESโ€™ annual meet focuses on Himalayan tradition

    December 27th, 2006

    HimVani

NEW DELHI: A three-day conference on social consciousness in Himalayan tradition was organised here from December 15 to 17, during the 10th International India conference of the Association for Vedic Studies (WAVES), in a tie-up with the University of Delhi, South Campus.

The conference received an enthusiastic response from scholars of Sanskrit studies and Indian studies. About two hundred delegates from different parts of India, USA, Belgium and UK participated in the conference. WAVES is an academic multidisciplinary society, based in the USA.

Presenting his paper and representing Himachal, Prashant Bhardwaj, Member of the Indian Governing Council of WAVES, said, โ€œDiscovering Himalayas, the land of God, known as Devbhumi has been a focal point of Vedic and Pauranic culture. Epics like Ramayana, Mahabharta, Vedas and Bhagvat Geeta have influenced the culture that flourished in the core of Himalayas since the Vedic period. The religious life in Himalayas was dominated by the elements of Shaivism, Vaishanavism, Bhuddism, Animism and superstitions. Dev tradition prevails in the Himalayas, which integrates the family system and binds the inhabitants. Pauranic literature and tradition found in this region in the form of manuscripts, inscriptions, carving, folk, temples, fairs, lok-gathas and jan-shrutis provide comprehensive information regarding its cultural consciousness.โ€

He added, โ€œFolk song is the backbone of our folk tradition and life. Folk songs are taken as a source of evidence for the existence of socio-culture in any particular society and reveal their thoughts. It is vividly claimed that such kind of rare cultural consciousness and tradition is uniquely found in the Himalayas.โ€

He said that if Himalayas were excluded from the Ancient heritage of India, โ€œwe would be excluding the whole ancient Vedic and Pauranic traditionโ€ฆ that enrich this unique culture.โ€

RE: SANDHYA JAIN. RATHER THAN A FANATIC SHE IS THE DAUGHTER OF FORMER MEDIA EXEC JAIN AND A PRACTICING JAIN, Not a Hindu yet still sees the difference between Indigenous Indic traditions and foriegn imports like UN sponsored Moaism, Exclusive Islam/Christian groups that say everyone else is going to hell accept them.

Here is the deal. Any tradition that has at its core ‘ Do unto other as you would have done to you’ is good. Nepal has this, and has had this for thousands of years because of its INDIGENOUS VEDIC CULTURE….now called as Hinduism. True Hinduism means the culture that allows all the right to seek the Divine or not to as they see fit. Thats why its called Sanatan Dharma or the Eternal Way that Sustians. Thats not Nepali,Indian, American, Chinese, Arab etc. Its the Eternal reality that is. Hindus and Buddhists mannaged to hang on to more records than others but the Dharmik in Nepal is following the same Dharma as the American Indian traditionalists.

Here in America we got screwed a long time ago so alot of us are waking up. Its sad to see the same BS happening in Nepal and as usual its led by Native Traitors. The only way the enemy has even had victory i sthru the help of Native Traitors.
Any Native Nepalis who recognize that their Hindu/Bhuddhists/Indigenous Religion and culture is being messed with join us at NATIVE PRIDE. If you are a Coverting Communist, Christian or Muslim type dont bother us. You got yr own deal goin already. This is for Native Pride supporters who see the truth that the NAtives culture has more than enough to solve its own problems.

So the fellows are concerned understandable, because you are losing your privileges, the dalits once they realize that what their real position was and is in the Varna Vavastha would follow the path of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, and they would be liberated from the clutches of the Caste Hindoos and that ‘s is highly essential for the overall upliftment and well being of the dalits. The orgs like VHP, RSS and others are primarily organisations for the Brahmin and the Baniya and nothing more, before it was purely for the Brahmins now the Baniya has been accommodated, and others are pack animals in it. These organisations practice open caste discriminations, they don’t believe in the equality of human beings, they believe in the caste hierarchy and which the dalits don’t because it is against the interests of the dalits, and these orgs are wooing the dalits for electoral reasons, for vote banks and nothing more and their reach is confined to a few places and their growth has reached a point where they can no further expand and so are trying to bring the tribals like the Nagas, Mizos etc to the org, poor fellows, their philosophy, ideas are retrogressive, barbaric, they even support sati , untouchability, etc. They have no way, no solution to further their agenda, achieve their objectives , they moves result in no solution, they have reached a plateau.
About the Brahmins, it is understandable, they feel bad but these developments, breaking away of the cast or communities form its fold, clutches is inevitable they have to happen. The Dravidans have broken away so have the Sikhs, so have the dalits so have the Marathas so have the Gurungs, Limboos, Rais etc. These things must happen for the wellbeing and peace in the sub-continent and the upliftment and progress of all the nationalities. people.

    Mr VRN,
SEE THIS, Down to the indigenous vedic based culture, what ved what sastra, that enslaves peoples, you profit, you keep it, you worship it, we don’t need it, it is not meant for us, was never meant for us, the blood and tears of the dalits and indigenous peoples have flown because of your so called highly refined civilized philosophy, culture. We have suffered, been killed, faced segregation, impoverised what you expect, still feed the butchers and whet the weapons of the butchers. YOU better Find a place in the ghats, open a shop, infest the ghats you will be rich. it is a suggestion from a well wisher.

Ironic jee again, with loggerheads with someone else ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

By the way you seem to be fixated on this IQ thing. What exactly do you mean by IQ ? And what do you mean by an IQ less than 50 ?

And do you know what it means by ‘Vedic Traditions’ ? ( It seems that you understand the current caste / caste related hierarchial system to be synonymous to ‘vedic traditions’, ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ) I think you must first try to find out what is ‘Vedic tradition’ or what is there in Vedas and Upanishads before making such silly and prejudiced comments. (By the way this shows your IQ level, ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ )

Wait for Iconic’s racial rants when he is back. You will be accused of ‘bahun’ supremacy and ‘khas’ domination. Better still, you will have to face the great question of ethnicity. In the end, he will threaten to start his fight to finish casteist and autonomy war. Better luck !!!

Fantaticism is avoidable. This is not just an indian problem, remember Salman Rushdie and so on… In current conjecture there is generalized racism against muslims, the ever so – holy hindus in India helped create Pakistan and Bangladesh. Not so good for women…Nepal is too good for that, many good people feel attracted to Brahma Kumaris, Sai Baba, like a religous feeling.

We call tenets what is in the mind, for you puja will be ringing the bell and whatever in ur puja room, and for a muslim it will be washing feet and hand before eating and for a maist maybe no puja, sounds nihilistic. This is to be avoided better believe something. It is all in VEdas. Then veda and bible similar but nobody likes to hear that . Dalai lama and Thich Nath hanh say keep your own religion, I think they mean culture. However lumbini and the lord buddha. Buddha was a Chhetri. Like many moaistz. Defend who needs Help.
