The HLPC report must be taken seriously and its suggestions must be implemented
By now the world has learned from the High Level Probe Commission that Gyanendra was (and is) guilty of suppressing the historical popular uprising in April and responsible for the death of 21 innocent Nepalis who were fighting for their freedom. Did we really need the Commission to tell us that truth? Not actually because we saw the ambitious monarch on TV in Feb 1, 2005 dismissing remains of democracy that he started destroying systematically in mid 2002. That was the biggest crime he did and I am sure he will be punished in the election of Constituent Assembly. No vote for any party or candidates who want to give space in whatever form to monarchy in Nepal. At least I will not give. Baru Maobadi lai halchhu 😉
What about Gyanendra’s crime of putting us in dark for the whole week of after Feb 1, 2005 by cutting off telephone lines, switching off Internet connections, imposing emergency and censorship, restricting movements, and severely curtailing our civil liberties.
What about the crimes Gyanendra and his cabinet did at the time of April uprising? The Commission led by former justice Krishna Jung Rayamajhi has held the entire cabinet and chairman Gyanendra responsible for the destruction of property and abuse of national coffers and authority. Who killed those innocent people? The one who actually pulled the trigger? Yes, of course. But that would not the complete justice. As the executive head of Nepal at that time, Gyanendra is responsible for all those deaths. He must be punished.
Some people might say, well, Gyanendra is now sidelined; we must forgive him and concentrate ourselves in dealing with Maoists. We must deal with Maoists but we must not forget Gyanendra. We are well aware of the nature of Shah Kings. They don’t change for good.
Though Prime Minster Girija Prasad Koirala has said the government will not spare any guilty the skepticism still rules many Nepalis. What if the government doesn’t take action against all those 2002 people including Gyanendra as per the suggestions of the Commission? What if this report becomes another Mallik Commission report? People are vigilant. I saw a vox populi in Kantipur TV this evening in which all participants said that this report must not share the fate of Mallik Commission report. People remember how the report on the probe of atrocities done during the 1990 movement was thrown into dustbin by the successive democratic governments. Implementing the Commission report is the real challenge ahead. -Wagle

Honestly- I have lost faith in Nepal. Maoist run the country, can anyone deny this fact? Even the appointment of Ambassadors must pass through Maoist- they put a stop to it. Talk about having balls.

The report says that Gyane and his close aides – Tulsi Giri, Shrish Rana, Kamal Thapa, Pyarjung etc have only been charged with corruption, while easy tagets like some Majors,SPs etc have been charged with murders.

An Open Letter to Chairman Prachanda,
My psuedo name is Prof Pyare Lall, like you have your original name Pushpa Kamal Dahal. I have been writing in this blog in different names in different times.I am a responsible citizen of Nepal and studied political development in various countries. Nepal is our beloved country and I am always serious and attentive to the problems of our country. I am in a foreign country and I definitely will come to Nepal at the time of elections to the CA. I am happy that you have signed today with the PM a Comprehensive Peace Agreement which I read in its entirety.
I have the following suggestions to make:
1. First, what you did in Nepal during these last eleven years was totally wrong.You have pushed our country’s development to the state of 50 years before with your murder campaign.
2.You collaborated with the Prince Gyane at the initial phase of your campaign and you were provided with some arms from him.Then you collaborated with RAW and Indian authorities to succeed in Nepal. It is a testomony to the fact that your recent visit to New Delhi and what you said there in Indian soil is insulting to every patriotic Nepalese. You can not go down like that with India. If you become the first President of Nepal, the first agreement you will sign with India will be the sale of Nepal in half price to India.
3. The important point is that if you do not work from tomorrow for peace and to win the hearts and minds of poor Nepalese people, there will be a civil war against you buggers and the same Nepalese people will kill you one by one. Because you always killed only the poor and downtrodden and you take the money from the rich to kill the poor.You provided secuity to the likes of Khum Bahadur, Govida Raj and Chiranjivi Wagle during these years. Nepali Janata know about it all. Stop immediately the extortion of money, abductions and killings from tomorrow onwards if you want to come to the competitive politics. Handover arms to the cantonments and to the UN. Otherwise the proud people of Nepal will rise against you.

I wonder what makes people here think that the Rayamajhi commissions finding is so correct? People here talk of punishing, but nobody really talks of whether their findings are correct, impartial and not politically motivated? Are the members of the commisssion so holier than thou that their findings are correct, or is this the voice of the seven party a$$ lickers, hangers on and beneficieries of a corrupt run in the days of the SPA seeking revenge for exposing the many faults and weaknesses of these parties and their beneficiaries? Get rid of the competition to go on with their corrupt binge with judges in their pockets and even the CIAA. There is talk of peoples voice but the only voice we here is of SPAM and their stooges. Simple security is not provided for the people they say they work for. This has only made the SPA more powerful and untouchable. People like Khum Bahadur and even Girija walk free of corruption charges. Even the corrupt media is backed by money from somewhere or the other. Only little problem is while they have gotten rid of the opposition by political vendetta they have to dine with the devil and smile. What a farce this nation has become,the people who started a bloody insurgency (Prachanda and Girija) have now ended it with great pomp for themselves and squarely blamed it on a King who was’nt even King when the blood run began. Too many times people like them (Brahmin no doubt) have used the political environment to reinvent themselves for power. Being priests and advisors in autocratic times and talking of democracy and communism to suite their end in current times. In Nepal, I guess it is natural to fool the people all the time.
In a country with labels which are stuck on for long periods of time, I can think of only one for the people of Nepal – SUCKERS!
Nepalis forgive and forget too easily when their own is not effected. I can only pray for the families of the ones that were in the bloody era of the maos. Praying is all that we can do, expecting anything else when people are trying to make heroes out of murderers is beyond wishful thinking.
It is good news that they are thinking of punishing the king. But please give me a instance a political figure or a rich business man who has been punished for their crime in Nepal. Since Gyanendra is both political figure and rich business man, I am 100% sure no one can do anything against him. The judiciary in Nepal can’t even punish Khum Bahadur or Govind Raj Joshi. Also what about the bank defualter (named something Prasai) who went to airport along with Korean ambassdor to take part in some function and although there was warrant against him, police didnot or couldnot catch him. So we can all dream about Gyanendra getting presectued, but it won’t happen in reality. A footnote: media and blogsites like this should start to concentrate more on the corruption of Nepalese judicairy. Most judges are starting to act like no one can touch them, and they can decide whatever they want. So lets not only blame corrupts but those who try to ‘purify’ these corrupts.
All those who stole from the nation must be punished and the money and property recovered. Koirala and the other corrupt politicians, officers and officials must not be allowed to use the king as a sacrificial offering to escape prosecution for their own crimes. The biggest criminals of all will be pointing and crying “king, king!” to take attention away from themselves. The Maoists must also return the land and property that they have stolen from the people. If it is a new era then let’s start off right.
