Acting as per the foreign whim and not listening to the genuine voice of Nepali people will result in clashes like this in future as well. Will these perpetrators of crimes like this attack be ever brought into the justice of Nepali people? Probably not. Killing will continue as long as Maoists are sidelined and foreigners like American Ambassador Moriarty are heard by the state. There is never a word called late for a peace process to be started. And it should be started. What else do I have to say. Every attacks like this one are telling so many things themselves…

The problem of Nepal are Maoists, not “Gyane”. Everybody knows this and it is about time bloggers at this site also understood that.

this is a no win situation. nepalese have nothing to win but everything to lose from this ongoing conflict. its impossible for anybody not to realize this and the saddest part is that there seems to be no plausible end or solution in sight.

Mr. Shah’s Voices are still vibrating in my ears: “terrorism is limited now” but it has been proved that his word is worthless and said only to preserve his regime. If security personnel themselves are not secured and how would people feel they are secure. Of cource, those persons in high post are secure and they only can talk big things but ordinary people have to face all those things.

Maoists, as an organised political party with an armed outfit, will continue to inflict damage to the security forces and vice versa as long as the state considers the maoist insurgency merely a law and order problem emrging from the acts of terrorism.

There is no alternative to dialogue.

How much blood does the PALACE expects to be spilled before it realises this fact!!

As long as the Maoist resort to this sort of attacks, security is always shaky. How can we expect the RNA to secure all check posts in the country. The Maoists are at the liberty to attack wherever and whoever, not so for the RNA. Protecting the country is a lot lot more difficult then trying to destroy it.

Its time for Mr. Shah to come to his senses. The Maoists will no easily be defeated than the Iraqi insurgency will be crushed.

If he does not make peaceful reconciliation now, he will go down with George Bush as one of the warmongers of our era.

The simplest way to get rid of the Maoist menace is to get everyone’s effort into tracking down Prachanda, Babu Ram and Badal and killing them. I wonder why the state has not hired people in India and deployed crack troops here to do this. Cut off the heads and everything else will fizzle down.

Maoists perspectives of the political situation on their 10th Anniversary of the People’s War can be found in their recently published Janadesh Weekly’s Special Edition at http://www.janadesh2006.blogspot.com

May help to gives us some insight to what they are up to especially after their groundbreaking aggreement with the seven party alliance.

    hey simple,

and what would your “simple” solution to widespread poverty be? class and caste based discrimination? the path may be wrong but the cause is genuine.

i don’t support the violent means of the maoist, but there are no “simple” solutions. stop making stupid comments.

KG and MBs are two sides of a same coin. Neither side of the coin exists with out other side. It is very simple. As long as MBs are there KG has a cause. Similarly as long as KG is there Mbs have a so called cause. Some time MBs say we will negotiate with Master only and some time they want 7 parties alliance. Similarly KG talks with varoius leaders from left to right. We Nepalis are BHEDAS & fools to see their drama. TA PITE JHAI GAR MA ROYE JHAI GARCHHU. Any way both side is making money. This never ending game will ultimately kill our Nepal.

Mr. Simple: Sorry to say your LOGIC just does not apply.

hey let simple have his say. in some extent he has a point. I also have wandered why the RNA and other security agencies in Nepal haven’t made an effort to actually arrest Prachanda and Baburam. In peru this is excatly what happened – the army captured the top leadership during a meeting. that being said the maoist problem is far more deep rooted and it won’t go away with just arresting baburam and Prachanda but instead of bombing entire villages using helocopters the RNA should make its military tactics smarter by targeting specific maoists.
however in the end dialogue is the only viable solution to this crisis.

I keep repeating here that we should follow Peru’s example hoping someone will listen, but no one seems to care. The reason the Peruvian government was successful was also because the Army became less brutal while at the same time developing better intelligence, as the previous poster has said.

There IS NO military solution. Both parties are about equal. If we continue this way, we’ll go on for year and years. It won’t be like Peru, but like Colombia, where about 200,000 have died in about 40 years.

One must remember that inspite of defeating the Maoists, Peru’s Fujimori was not only kicked out of power but held to be a criminal, and he had to live many years out of the country (still does). Lets not similarly assume that the Maoist problem is the only problem in the country.

    Hey not -so- simple.

The simple answer to your question is – hard work and a democratically elected government (the one we will get once the Maoist leaders are killed).

The wrong answer to your question is – Quite simply the Maoists.

    Blogwatch,

My type of logic (as you put it) is the exact sort of method which has solved a lot of these sort of problems around the globe, and by avoiding a lot of unneccessary blood shed and loss of lives.

Unless of course you happen to support the Maoist leadership.

    not-so-simple,

You say “the path may be wrong but the cause is genuine” referring to the Maoists. I can also tell you that people like Osama Bin Laden and his followers feel the same way about their cause.

Democracy, my dear friend, is the correct path and the cause has to be dictated by the majority by popular demand and active participation and hard work.

    Simple

I have not disputed your simple logic. But who is going to apply? Or who is going to sponsor? KG? Common. For your Logic you need KG and his machinary. But KG and MBs are two sides of same coin. Kill & make more money.

Unless of course you happen to support the Maoist leadership.

I guess same could be applied to you. May be you are pretending with your so called simple logic.

This war will continue even the maiost leader are captured. The maoist leaders are brainwashing innocent Nepalease poor Citizens. they feel that there is nothing to live for and nothing to lose.

we need a strong political party who have full of patriotism in their heart not (girija, krishna etc etc). I guess we can’t expect anything from current political party they are very useless. The king and Maoist both taking advantage from its. All these party should unite themselves to make better life for Neplease Citizen.
    God bless Nepal

Why will the Nepal Army put it’s life on the line for a people that have disowned them? The Janaandolan gave the military victory to the Maoist Army. Who can now rebuild the morale of the Nepal Army?
