Alliance of Nepal’s top political parties request people to boycott election that the king’s government plans to hold in February.
So, the United Front or seven-party alliance requests us not to vote this time. Top leaders of the member parties jointly issued a statement Thursday (Dec 29) appealing to actively boycott the polls. And millions of Nepalis will comply with that request because they know casting their votes in this election means endorsing the autocracy of His Majesty. The upcoming Municipal poll is, as the alliance has stated in the appeal, the royal ploy to a ploy to push the country into civil war and legitimize the ‘unconstitutional, undemocratic and autocratic’ Feb 1 putsch. It is clear that the king desperately wants to show the international community photos of people voting with caption something like this: “You criticize me for the Feb 1 takeover. Now look at these photos and shut up, okay. I am bringing democracy in Nepal.”
Bideshis (foreigners) might be swayed away with such photos and captions that would be fake and unrepresentative. It will not be exaggeration to say that only diehard and hired royalists will be voting inside the tight security cordon and under the active monitoring of army. The state-media will be taking the pictures of that drama. And this sums up the seven-party alliance appeal.
From the Appeal:
> By picking up so called people’s representatives through a poll drama, the king is trying to legitimize his regime.
>A ploy to revive the practice of the late King Mahendra to pick unpopular people (henchmen) through an election drama
>It is a drama being staged to confuse the international community.
>We appeal to all the people not to become a shield for ‘autocratic monarchy boycotted by the international community and Nepali people’ and not to become an object of hatred by standing against democracy.
>This poll will destroy the basic values of free elections.
>Anyone participating in the election or supporting it would be expelled for at least five years from their respective party.
Here is the full text of the appeal in Nepali.

“We appeal to all the people not to become a shield for â??autocratic monarchy boycotted by the international community and Nepali peopleâ?? and not to become an object of hatred by standing against democracy.”
—Sounds like a threat more than an appeal. Now how democratic is that?

One has right to ignore the vote but one has right to choose leaders also in this 21st century. There demand of coalition government for the election might be right but we think boycotting the election is major drawbacks for the parties espcially NC, NC(P), RPP etc. They will loose more in future than now.

duke jee,
Let them loose election why you are worrying about them. If you like to for poll, please go… win ..
Question again comes , election for what? Is this type of fabricated election going to bring back derailed constitution in track?
Need of hour is peace, democracy, peoples soverignity not local election.

The nature of this statement is remarkably similar to that of Maoists – which usually berate the King and engages in name-calling. At least we can say that these Party leaders learning fast from the Maoists.
It is amaging how these leaders, half of who are currupt and half of who have been harboring corrupts colleagues like Govind Raj Joshi, Jalanath Khanal, Bijay Gachchedar now accuse others of corruption without looking into their own body where big buffalos are roaming while they see louse in other’s body.
Parties have no right to prevent people from exercising their right to vote. If they don’t want to run for election, it is their choice but they will be committing a crime if they obstruct the elections and prevent people from voting.
I don’t understand why these parties are so afraid of elections which could be held with proper process and surpervision of international communities like the UN?

I agree with the appeal. Indeed the municipall polls have have ratinale. I myself cannot vote, I encourage my whole family stay home. This is the best way of non-volent protest against autocracy, the Mandale-cracy and the crony-coterie -cracy. I request all people of all municipalities to stay home the whole day. It is the lesson which we have learnt from the Gandhi’s struggle against British Raj – it is totally peaceful and nonvilent protest. This will prove that the king is not the GOD but a man who makes mistakes. He has made mistakes give him chance to improve own mistakes.

Consider two things:
1.) Mandale and criminal ministers say that this election should be utilized because it was “granted” by the [icd] King.
2.) One slave called Keshab R. Rajbhandary, who heads the EC, says that this election is “historic” because it was “granted” by the [icd] king.
The point is that all these slaves, madales and criminals think that election is something which the [icd] King owns. Nepalis are stupid nonsense who should be “granted” elections.
Our responsibility: Purge first the [icd] King who absurdly claims that election is his kindness to the people.
Folks, wake up! in our part of Kathmandu, we are already preparing for appropriate answers to Mandales and criminals. What are you doing in your place?
Chature Says:

Ganatantra,
Look at, Nepali people defeated mandales in 2046, and what we made mistake that we negociated with head of mandale through constitution in 2047, just for the sake of stability and peace. Had we gone a bit far at that time we would not see neither Durbar-massacare, Ashoj-tantra, nor Makar-tantra.
Now top brass mandales are breeding their slaves and they want their slaves to occupy the key post through fabricated election. The story is all about.
Sarki ko choro jee,
The names you have mentioned should must go through legal enquiry. If you are interested to bring them under legal action then please go to Royal commission. KG has established that notorious commission for that. Are you forgetting this… Please go today and register complain. I would be happy and congratulate you.
Please dont runaway from forum and tell me that How way you can bring under legal action to killer of singer Praveen Gurung and few others…, or Kalo-padhartha users, or Killler of Deependra.
You please mind one thing that coumpuer, internet , and bloggers forum
(all are super human creation) have not discovered, developed by self-imposed slaves but by the untired effort of several super human brains.
Kirtipure Maharjan jee,
Each and every Nepali (except slaves) is doing their best job to wipe out Nepal’s feudal cancer. The understanding, realization of citizens rights, have raised to higher level, this will bring them liberty and freedom soon.
This movement came to this stage by the effort of all. Dont loose your faith to people. All the best..

No body has any rights to disrupt Voting rights of the ppl. Those(seven parties) who claim they are the representative of the ppl have already expired. They have no rights to claim that they are the representative of the ppl. They are now just limited into the patty’s worker, but they are no representative of the ppl anymore. If they dont partcipation in election is fine, they cant undemocratic behaviors in democratic term. Election is a forum of Democracy. Thats why I am saying that in the period of parties era, Ambassadors were runing the business of Nepal nor Gireeja or esre or Makune. Well, laat ko Bhoot baatle mandain. Gireeja Makune etc. LAAT ko BHOOT hoon. I am going to vote. That is my rights. nobody can stop me, if they do I will GIVE them LAAT so they never do it again.

If election itself could be a symbol of democracy, many a elections people saw in Panchayan days. Election is by the people and not by the king and for the people and not for the betterment of people of king and for sovereign supremacy of the people.
Democrats,
I see no sense in arguments of democrats with monarchist and pseudo-democrats. They are monarchist and pseudo_democrats all the times. Instead of that, democrats should unitedly exchange ideas to make the pseudo-election a failure. It is a duty not only of the political partis but of all the demorats even of those who don’t like the present leaders.Political leaders are temporary phenomenon. I don’t like them but I can’t thow the precious domocracy for their sake.
Try to convince your neighbours, your friends, your relatives and all to whom you come near to boycot the pseudo-election. Don’t be aggressive like monarchist and pseudo-democrats. Be resolute.
If we don’t fight morally at this time, we may loose democracy. As every tyrant is ready to destroy democracy, Jean Jacqus Rouseou had correctly said that “It is easy to get democracy but difficult to regain it.”
So, fight morally and unitedly for democracy.

Election is a most at this point. How come people will trust those who are with the maobadi killings and GPK, Makune etc. We donot understand what is in their mind either they are slave or benefited directly with them. Yes there would be logic if they bring new clean leaders and go against the king’s rule. People are participating the mass because they feel king is far better than maoist killings and their supporters.

There are a few things that all couples need to do more of in their
marriage but for whatever reason neglect doing.
Anyone who has prepared divorce papers knows that this can happen and
if often does. However, very often we come across circumstances where marital responsibilities become so overbearing
that they deprive a person of his or her basic rights and liberties.
