Bhudai - you said my words. Had posted this earlier but dont know why it didnt publish ...

The problem is with our expectations of the UN. Its actually true that UNs have weak mandate. I mean why would our netas give them a strong mandate. They have to be careful not to be seen as too interfering lest India raise hackles for interfering in their backyard and of course our home grown cynic intellectuals raising hue and cry for meddling in our affairs. Ya UN is like a cow who offered to be milked and we/our netas agreed coz we could use some help. They didnt force themselves onto us for sure.

There are problems within UN no doubt and being a western inst. and the aid they dole out, sure they command influence, but its not as bad as people think or blame. The problem is with our own house. You cant blame others for the collapse if it was already crumbling.

The UN is basically a worthless organization. Just look around the world and see their work: Darfur, Congo, Nepal etc. It's only good for people who work at the UN and earn tax-free salaries and other fringe benefits.
But the point is that we shouldn't blame the UN for our toubles. We created our own mess and the Maoists are the root of the problem - not the UN.
