This article is nicely written, but a bit one sided questioning, mostly the Maoist intentions. This is the key problem in Nepali mind-set, we love to live in conspiracies and remain sceptical rather than optimistic. People Like Dawa seems to have short memories rather than us, since two thirds of the total 13000 Nepalese are killed by the security forces and the political parties ruined the country in the first place due to their power hungry fight. Even look now, they all want Deputy Prime Minister and fighting for ministerial posts. The choice is ours – be sceptical about the Maoist, undermine their cause and once again turn our country into bloodshed or look for compromised solutions and make efforts to build new Nepal. We all should remember that the Maoist will not be able to turn our country into Dictatorial Communist Republic for three good reasons – a. India will not let it happen. B. US and EU will not let it happen. C. Nepali people will not elect them for that regime.
Only point agrees with most the commentators is that the “Maoist arms should be managed under the supervision of UN before the CA”. I strongly agree with Prachanda that there is no single justification to keep 90,000- strong army in Nepal. May by we use more army for UN peace keeping (good job opportunities if the boys get their salary in their hands unlike now it goes to kalyankari kosh – general pocket).
