But I think this is the most significant thing to have changed. The loktantra to have arrived is ours, because we stood up for it, more than for the prajantantra that was “given”. And I think, because of the costs of the protests, we the Nepali people will now be more willing to own, participate, and act in our democracy. Sure, we have a lot to do. But look at the crowds that were outside Singha Durbar yesterday. This is the good that has come out of 4 years of undemocratic rule, and years that perhaps many people weren’t satisfied with: we have learnt the significance – the value – of democracy, and many better understand its meaning; we are now ( or rather, I think we will now be more) willing to speak out against the misdeeds of our representatives – politicians and ministers/whoever – because we better understand the political system and our rights and role.
